Frustrated by the complete ‘The Vietnamization of Iraq‘ and inspired by the "George Santayana" ignorance of the Democratic response to Bush’s speech today, yours truly took it upon himself to conjure up the parody book cover below and to the left.

Annapolis, MD - Speaking to an audience of students and faculty at the U.S. Naval Academy, George Bush re-emphasized that we are engaged in a war with a fanatical death cult who would interpret a cut-n-run policy as an invitation to bring their brand of politicizing to the U.S. With historical precedent on his side, the Command in Chief outlined a three part strategy for a successful conclusion to our presence in Iraq that included:
- a political component in which coalition forces would help Iraq build a free and democratic society;
- a security piece in which coalition troops would train Iraqi security forces well enough to guard their new found freedoms; and
- an economic element, a free market economy which will reward productivity while offering individuals a sense of personal destiny.

Frustrated by the lack of a Bush apology, Senator John F. Kerry went on the offensive to effect a semantic change to Murtha’s call for an immediate redeployment of U.S. troops from Iraq by replacing the phrase "deadline for withdrawal" with "timetable for success."
In a sound bite reminiscent of Richard Nixon’s "Peace with Honor" speech, Senator Hillary Clinton took Mr. Kerry’s word-games one step further when she demanded the President "present us with a plan for finishing this war with success and honor."
Ignoring the advice of fellow Democrat Joe Lieberman, Nancy Pelosi suggested the American people prefer we follow John Murtha’s call to remove U.S. Troops at "earliest possible date."

You can see the big huge honking version of it over at blogs4God. Enjoy ‘liberally,’ just avoid hot-linking the image and if possible a link back would be polite.

Bush was on the Border of Churchillian–I’m praying that God would allow him to the Churchillian level:
We shall not flag nor fail. We shall go on to the end. We shall fight in France and on the seas and oceans; we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air. We shall defend our island whatever the cost may be; we shall fight on beaches, landing grounds, in fields, in streets and on the hills. We shall never surrender and even if, which I do not for the moment believe, this island or a large part of it were subjugated and starving, then our empire beyond the seas, armed and guarded by the British Fleet, will carry on the struggle until in God’s good time the New World with all its power and might, sets forth to the liberation and rescue of the Old.
Let’s pray for Our Troops, For Our Country, and For our Leaders–That Our Troops would not grow weary in well doing, that God would give us favor with our enemies, and that God would give our Leaders wisdom.

Brilliant visual satire. Well done!
First of all, conservatives and Republicans have no moral authority in conducting this war, and that is why it has failed. When your WMD theory is exposed for being a fraud, you switch to saying you care about the freedom of Iraqi people, who are predominately muslim, yet you use words like Crusade, defend and advocate internment, call Islam a terror organization, authorize and promote torture, people all over the world, including the Iraqis will not view your cause as a liberating cause, but rather an occupation. Is it surprising that over 50% of the Iraqi people believe that attacks on our troops are justified? Aren’t these the people we are helping by spending upwards of $300,000,000,000 of our tax dollars?
DO republicans support our troops? When you cut taxes at the time of war, and have your Secretary of Defense say he wanted a “cheap war”and troops have to be satisfied with the stuff they get, not the stuff they want, you DON’t Support Our Troops.
When Senators Evan Bayh and Teddy Kennedy bring an amendment providing $213,000,000 for Armored Humvees, and out of the 39 Senators who vote AGINST the Amendment, 38 are Republican, your party DOES NOT support the troops. One of those 38 Republicans who voted against the funding was Elizabeth Dole, since she felt it was a waste of money and jeapordized the tax cuts. Of course Elizabeth Dole is the head of the NRSC for 2006 and she has done a lousy job in recruiting and fundraising, and is involved in a dispute with the FEC over returning illicit funds. As an individual running 2006, would you want to stand next to her?
When the leader of your party jeapordizes Military recruitment, and increases terrorism and hatred in the world, you don’t support our Troops, nor do you genuinely care about the Iraqi people when you think repeatedly insult their religion.
Thank you for your feedback Sondra - with my work so busy, I have a hard time getting to MoveOn.org these days.
I appreciate the update.
