I don’t do any writing other than my blog, but I am very much into self promotion…

I am new to blogging, only been at it since Sept. 20th but hey, if you don’t have enough faith in your self and strength in your works that you can’t honestly say “I *WANT* folks to read my work”, why spend any time doing it…

Kudos to you La Shawn, make a buck any way and any time you can, short of selling out your principles…

And don’t let the *idiots* get you down, they’re just jealous…

Just a few thoughts: 1) I linked to you when neither you blog or mine had much traffic…and mine still doesn’t!; 2) You’ve made comments I thought were overboard, and I still link; 3) Keep making comments negative to the Bush administration as they are increasingly warranted and especially from those of us who support him; 4) Thanks for linking my site! You’re a faithful advocate of this most useful means of communication (and Self-Promotion, I might add).

Made sense to me.

I struggle with many of the same issue LaShawn. As a self declared neo-con mormon who is into living a natural lifestyle, I often have been lambasted in certain web circles for sharing my heart felt views.

Once I was even accused of being a 45 year old male Freeper, trolling on a natural living site, and posting threads that just made all the liberals feel so uncomfortable.

And my views about “better living with chemistry” tend to cause conservatives to wet their pants in dismay.

I plan to continue on just being myself, on the web and here at home, and I hope and pray you will do the same. You writings on blogging have really helped me to focus and find my voice.

I couldn’t agree more with this entry. Blogging is all about the free expression of ideas and opinions, and your stories regarding the hypocrisy of some bloggers are disappointing. For what it’s worth, I haven’t agreed with everything I’ve read on your blog, but I’ve always considered it thought-provoking and a worthwhile read. Although my blog is on hiatus until the end of the year, I would be delighted to be linked to by an eminent blogger such as yourself. Regardless, you can count on a link in my blogroll – and no hypocrisy about self-promotion! I think people blog because they want to be heard, and promotion is pretty much the only way for people to hear what you have to say. Keep it up and don’t mind the haters.

I think the problem is that you are a professional writer, and your critics think you’re “just” a blogger, so they’re judging you according to amateur standards. There is nothing wrong with what you’re doing–you love writing and helping others via your business and other means, and you’re doing what any professional does: publicizing what you do.

La Shawn, people only complain about successful people when they are intimidated. You have set a standard for blogging that can only be admired.

I’m not a big fan of achieving success by climbing on the back of others but I do agree that the truth must be told.

This happens to be your site and you can do with it as you choose to. We each have a responsibility to be true to our God-given purpose on this earth.
