Justice Sunday III, Walking the Bible, Etc.

in Faith

book It’s time for another Justice Sunday, a gathering which will raise awareness and educate “people of faith on how the judiciary impacts their lives and to show how activist judges seek to end all mention of God in the public square.”

Charmaine Yoest, mother of five, Vice President of External Affairs at the Family Research Council, and a blogger I met at a Christian bloggers meet-up several months ago, selected me and a few others to live-blog the events in Philadelphia this Sunday. I’ll be joined by Ed Morrissey of Captain’s Quarters, Stacy Harp of Mind and Media (met several times, most recently at GodBlogCon), and RightWingSparkle.

I’m glad they’re sticking with faith bloggers this time instead of trying to “reach out” to bloggers hostile to the Christian faith and conservative values.

Other announcements:

  • The Blogs4Life conference will take place in the nation’s capital on January 23. I hope to see you there! :)
  • Another great lady I met at GodBlogCon who blogs at B Relevant announced that the first episode of a three-part documentary called Walking the Bible will premiere tonight on PBS. The documentary is based on the book Walking the Bible: A Journey by Land Through the Five Books of Moses.

Author Bruce Feiler, an American Jew, decided to walk through the Holy Lands, following the biblical account of the patriarchs. I read the book several years ago and was surprised to learn he wasn’t a Christian. In the years since his book was published, I wonder how his journey has influenced his faith. Perhaps he’ll talk about it tonight.

  • Focus on the Family’s Citizen magazine has a cover story on conservative and Christian bloggers, Pajama Warriors.
  • Catch me on WZNN with Ken Bagwell tomorrow at 3:00 p.m. EST.
  • Help cartoonist Faithmouse get to the pro-life rally! (Via Writing Right)
  • Which Harry Potter-related books do you own? Post your list at Fantasy Fiction for Christians.

Do you have a Christian-related announcement to make? Trackback to this post, and I’ll include your link.

LaShawn – I missed congratulating you for being asked to write for the Christian Research Journal. It is one of my favorite magazines. I look forward to seeing your article later this year.

Keep up the good work!

Not that the apple never falls far from the tree — but it’s interesting that Lusk’s baptist minister father Herbert I plead guilty (only a few years ago) to five felony counts of abusing government money meant for the child care program that he ran in Monterey, CA. From the news stories, one can infer that he was at the least quite an SOB through it all:
