Bill’s Hill’s Shill Causes Chills

in Liberals

clintonNo wonder black liberals like white liberals so much. I can almost hear them laughing behind the backs of white liberals as they “preach” in black churches, trying to sound humble and traditional even though they probably voted for wholesale infanticide the week before.

Michelle Malkin goes after Hillary Clinton in her latest column, “D” is for Demagogue. What I love about Michelle’s writing is her biting sarcasm. Long-time readers will remember this: I started writing op-eds back in 2002 because of Michelle. I loved her edgy editorials, usually ended with a twist.

It seems that Mrs. William J. Clinton hung out with black folks on Martin Luther King, Jr.’s birthday. She told a congregation in Harlem that the House of Representatives was run like a plantation, whatever that means. I couldn’t care less what she said, but it’s fun to blog about how vapid and pandering white liberals are, isn’t it?

BET, the black “entertainment” network that promotes the baser aspects of the black community, salivated over her speech. “Hillary Clinton Slams Bush at King Event,” pants the rump-shaking network. According to the story, Hillary apologized to black Hurricane Katrina evacuees on behalf of the federal government. More more whites were killed by the hurricane than blacks. Do you think Bill’s old Hill will apologize to those evacuees? Need I answer? It wouldn’t be politically beneficial.

White men can’t stand her, and married white women with children aren’t too fond of her, either.

Hillary has to settle for black folks. Drat. Can you imagine what would happen to the Democratic party, architect of Jim Crow, supporter of black genocide, if blacks suddenly became offended en masse by their politically expedient antics and start voting for Republicans? Alas, it’s only a dream. The promise of more cash from race-based government grants and bloated, ill-managed social programs is too tempting to resist. Hillary and her klan clan count on it.

Says Michelle Malkin of Hillary’s church-pander:

These calculated moments of Democrat demagoguery illuminate liberalism’s three-decade-old moral bankruptcy on issues of race. From the party’s smearing of Clarence Thomas to the bigoted attacks on Condoleezza Rice and Maryland GOP Lt. Gov. Michael Steele, to its opposition to school choice for inner-city students and denigration of California businessman Ward Connerly’s campaign against government racial preferences, to its latest desperate attempts to blame racism for Hurricane Katrina and to portray Supreme Court nominee Samuel Alito as a red-necked bigot, the Left has offered nothing but slime and obstructionism.

Obstructionism, indeed. Democrats are famous for obstructing school doors back in the early days of integration, for example. Read an op-ed I wrote about liberal obstructionism in Washington, D.C. That piece almost got me in trouble at my former day job, but I stood behind every word of it, right down to the Malkin-inspired twist at the end. :)

Important Note: Before I’m implicated in the “lying Republican hypocrites used plantation analogy, too” meme, let me clear the air. I can’t speak for other conservatives, but I’ve used the plantation analogy before and will do so again because it’s appropriate. Whatever Hillary said to that black congregation, I couldn’t give a rat’s behind, unlike certain other conservatives. I just like making fun of vacuous, pandering white liberals.

“Forty years ago, Democrats couldn’t care less about the education of black students.

Forty years later, they still don’t.”

Brilliant, La Shawn! Directly on target.

As for Madame DuFarge, AKA Hillary Clinton, she is beneath contempt. She’s the poster child for today’s demented white leftists. Her speech, on a day that should have been devoted to honoring a great man’s memory, was as disgustingly demeaning and condescending as anything I’ve ever heard come out of her crooked and disingenuous mouth. Given her history, that’s saying something.

The only time I ever feel any sympathy for Bill Clinton is when I think what it must be like to be married to Hillary. [shudder]

Theresa 01.18.06 at 8:23 am

billary shows her lack of character and integrity once again. I truly wonder how Mr. King would feel if he were alive today to see what has become of his “dream”.

Frank Zavisca 01.18.06 at 9:18 am

In NY City, about 100, 000 babies are born.

Over 80, 000 are aborted.

Supported by Dems, like Hillary.

Heliotrope 01.18.06 at 11:23 am

When Bill Clinton was grifting and grinning and empathizing his way through the coffee shops of the little people before the primaries began in earnest in 1992, he picked up a great nickname from fellow candidate Paul Tsongas of Massachusetts. Tsongas called him Pander Bear.

That is the Clinton legacy. No matter what, pander. Pander for free goodies, pander for affection, pander for fame, pander for attention, pander to pander; and you know what I’m talkin’ about (as Hillary would say).

But pandering is a two way street. It is not just about Hillary, it is also about the pander pigs who slop at the pander trough.

What makes people so willing to fund a grifter and get set aglow by their pandering words is beyond my understanding.

Thomas 01.18.06 at 11:38 am

Hillary’s comments were inappropriate, but not for the reason that everyone here appears to think. They were inappropriate because they separate PEOPLE into separate colors which only furthers racism. How can you blast Hillary for trying to appeal to the “blacks”, then turn around and pose the question of what would happen if “blacks” en masse started voting for Republicans or refer to “black liberals” and “white liberals”? Are you suggesting that Republicans don’t try to appeal to black voters just as much, if not more, than their Democrat counterparts?

MM’s quote makes more than 1 ridiculous claim that is not backed up. When did Democrats ever blame racism for Hurricane Katrina? They have suggested racism is to blame for the poor response by the government, but not for the hurricane itself. It was actually your golden boy Pat Robertson who blamed the hurricane itself on more than just weather patterns. And how was Samuel Alito called a red-necked bigot? He was questioned on his association with an organization who has a past history of bigotry, but I never saw anyone call him what MM claims.

What really irks me though is the statement “Democrats are famous for obstructing school doors back in the early days of integration”. When I read that it makes me think you’re trying to say that Republicans didn’t have a part in trying to block integration at that same time. That’s not only an irresponsible comment, it’s historically inaccurate.

I’ll be glad when Black folks stop letting the Marxist whether they are Black or white make a fool of em.LaShawn I need to remind conservative Republicans that they too weren’t always friendly to us either. So,they might as well get off their high horses too.In fact,A lot folks forget that after Reconstruction the GOP kicked us to the curb. And as a native Black Southener many conservatives especially Blacks forget what actually started the south heading to the GOP,The Civil Rights Bill of 1965.Also,I notice that many on the right liked to pick on Bob Byrd of West Virginia and Hugo Black who was from my state of Alabama, but, you never hear Barry Goldwater’s name come up,and I know many whites on the right loved him too.He sure wasn’t friendly to Black folks either. And Wallace,My father met this man in 1966 just before a football state championship and he like many Blacks here in the south, expected the normal reaction of whites not wanting to shake hands with them and he got the biggest surprise of his life.Wallace wasn’t the demon that so many of the media made him out to be, alot of this stuff was nothing more than politics with some people and in Wallace’s case it especially was back then. But,admit that it is time for our people to tell Harry Belefonte to go choke on a bone because isn’t helping Blacks one iota now.

Paul 01.18.06 at 12:20 pm

Senator Clinton wouldn’t know a plantation if it hit her in the face and she is really talking down to African Americans with rants like her recent one at the Cannan Baptist Church of Christ.

La Shawn 01.18.06 at 12:22 pm

Terrence, I don’t know you’ve been listening to or what you’ve been reading about me, but I don’t delete comments simply because people disagree with me. It’s the manner in which they disagree.

If you’re going to comment on this blog, it would help to read more than one post. Skimming a few categories would be informative, too. Not only have Republicans used the planatation analogy against Democrats, I have used it as well (I’m an independent conservative, by the way, not a Repub).

Although I like making fun of Hillary, you’ll notice, if you read the entire post, that I said I couldn’t care less what Hillary “preaches.” If you want to comment again, can the sarcasm and read more than one post.

BUZZ 01.18.06 at 12:25 pm

1. no one claims that racism was to blame for the actual hurricane. “Hurricane Katrina” has become shorthand for everything that followed it. But I imagine you already knew that.
2.When, exactly did Pat Robertson become anyone’s golden boy? If we got to take him, then you got to take the entire phelps family.
3. Kennedy et all spent the better part of the day implying Alto was a bigot. I expect you know that too.
4. check the party affiliation of most of the elected officials down south during the early days of integration. Check the voting patterns in the national gov of the time and see which party voted for and which party voted against civil rights legislation.
5. get irked some more.

Great post — I really hate the fact that some of the black community seem to have no backbone to stand up to people that want to keep them oppressed, on the government dole, and used at every election, but forgotten about in between. We have to keep showing the people of this country what the liberals really want to do, and how they feel, about blacks and whites. Thank you.

Calvin 01.18.06 at 1:13 pm

Eric: You said: “They have suggested racism is to blame for the poor response by the government, but not for the hurricane itself.”

You do realize that a disproportionately large number of white people perished in the aftermath as compared to black people, right? Of course that isn’t the whole story but it’s something to chew on.

Chief RZ 01.18.06 at 1:15 pm

The Republicans control the House because they were elected. I remember 1994: http://www.house.gov/house/Contract/CONTRACT.html

They followed through with what they said they would do. Does anyone remember the repeated questioning by the “press” after they took power:
“Now what are your really going to do”? Answer-fulfull our Contract with America! “No, what are you really going to do?” !!??!

Hillary and her Social Democrats still are betting that they can fool a majority of the people that they know what is best for “them”.

Steve Fair 01.18.06 at 1:29 pm

Can any of you rightwingers explain how the Democrats are keeping blacks oppressed???

40 years ago the black poverty rate was 64%

Today it’s 21%

In the same period the number of black middle class members, business owners, college graduates and homeowners has quadrupled.

If the Repubs really want black support, they better start by ceasing this odious tactic of implying that blacks can’t think for themselves or intuit their own realities.

The absurdity of it all is that blacks like Barber are endorsing the notion.

You, Star Parker and Armstrong Williams are the only ones who get it right LaShawn?

The rest of us are just waiting for our handout.

‘Scuse me while I revisit my lunch.

Where in this post or in any other have I written that blacks were oppressed by Democrats? I don’t have time for people who don’t read carefully and couldn’t be bothered to accurately represent what I write. This is your last comment on LBC, so I hope you had fun “telling me off.” – Admin

Steve Fair 01.18.06 at 1:45 pm

I didn’t attack Robertson because I think to a certain degree, he was right, and so was Nagin. I didn’t criticize Nagin’s “God” remarks. I merely suggested that mainstream media would give him a pass, but obviously you didn’t read that post carefully, either. Here’s some unsolicited advice: practice reading comprehension before commenting on blogs. It’s very irritating to research and write these posts when readers like yourself with so many opinions don’t even comprehend or read the darn things, and then want to tell everybody what they think. Who cares? You came to my blog; I didn’t come to you.

The effete “Afraid of being challenged?” stuff hasn’t worked on me since I started blogging over two years ago. :? – Admin

Let’s run my junior senator’s latest ravings through the old weird-crap-o-meter and see what comes out…Hmmmm…Very Interesting…

When Hillary was in Bush’s land,
(Let my Democrats Go…)
Their Legislation could not stand,
(Let my Democrats Go…)

Go down, Hillary,
Way down in D.C. land,
Tell old Dub-ya,
To let my Democrats go…

For space sake, I’ll skip two other verses, Folks…But between you, me (born and raised a Democrat, if you can believe it) and the corner lamppost, I can recall very few historical tales of southern plantations where the field hands wore their era’s equivalent of Armani.

Further, if she truly feels set upon by the system, and doesn’t believe she’s in a place where she can effect change, working with the rest of the elected body, then what is she doing there in the first place?

If she’s the best we can come up with for 2008, I can see the “We wuz robbed” crew is going to have to start, from now, warming up their vocal cord for the day after election day again.

Steve Fair 01.18.06 at 1:56 pm

Let’s try this again.

LaShawn did you criticize Pat Robertson on your website?

If so, where?

You sure were quick to go after Nagin.

What is your problem? I wrote that I DIDN’T attack Robertson! See what I mean? Go away, Steve. And cut back on the caffeine. – Admin

Terrence 01.18.06 at 1:57 pm

I get so many opinionated folks trying to leave comments, Terrence, I can’t keep up. What is going on today? Some liberal must have linked to the post. – Admin

Steve Fair 01.18.06 at 2:10 pm

I’m “irritated” because you have no interest in accurately representing what I’ve written, Steve. I can’t believe I had to repeat that. Still, you’re not reading my responses. You have issues with that, don’t you? And I’m not responsible for what anyone says about me, good or bad, and since you’re a grown man, you ought to know that. And don’t give me that “I come in peace” jive. You did no such thing. It’s convenient to invoke now that your comments aren’t showing up, pretending you don’t know why. Don’t comment again. If you post another, I’ll consider it trolling. – Admin

Rancher 01.18.06 at 2:25 pm

I too wasn’t offended by Nagin’s or Hillary’s comments, mostly because as a former sheep rancher and current corrections officer I don’t get offended by others comments, period. Her apology for the Katrina response however I find ridiculous. First off she had nothing to do with it, good or bad, so why apologize? Bill, if your recall, was also an apologist for all kinds of things he had nothing to do with. He apologized to the Greeks for not supporting democracy strongly enough, he apologized to Iran for what he termed “American crimes against Iran”, and to blacks for slavery. The only thing he apologized for that he had any culpability in was for having lied under oath.

Steve Fair 01.18.06 at 2:35 pm

And you revert to type when you don’t get your way, just like certain other black liberal “men” who come to my house to insult me. When you become a man and learn some manners, you might be worthy. By the way, I’ve saved all your comments (with IP address and date/time stamps). I’m thinking of sending them to your employer, just for fun. – Admin

Craig Bardo 01.18.06 at 2:37 pm

The House is run like a plantation on D side of the aisle. When Dick Gephardt vacated his seat to run for President in 2003, it created an opening for the House Minority leader position. Nancy Pelosi quickly secured the votes required to win but Harold Ford, Jr. decided to run against her (correctly seeing where a Pelosi led opposition would take the party). Not even the “House Negro” Congressional Black Caucus supported Ford’s bid.

After Pelosi secured the bid, the CBC went hat in hand to her to endorse William (I didn’t do it) Jefferson for the #2 spot. For their loyalty (and sellout of Ford) they got, the now deceased, Bob Matsui.

So what do black Democrats get?…some pandering on King Day and visits by white politicians to black churches they’ve never been to before in about 7, 8 months or so.

B Gad 01.18.06 at 2:38 pm

If it quacks like a duck. What do you expect? Pandering is pandering and it is done on both sides of the aisle. Can you say Bob Jones University. All things considered I am far less offended by the message conveyed by Mrs Clinton as compared to the one sent by our president when he made his famous appearance at Bob Jones University. Who do you think he was pandering? You would think our commander and chief would be a little more sensitive but of course he is not concerned with all that PC crap.

Terrence you’re correct. Gingrich said something very similar referring to the House as a plantation when under Democrat rule. Surprisingly enough, not a peep from the media about it when it first came out

Here’s the quote…

“Since [the Democrats] think it is their job to run the plantation, it shocks them that I’m actually willing to lead the slave rebellion,” Newt Gingrich told the Washington Post on October 20, 1994.

Dave in AZ 01.18.06 at 3:43 pm

Great writing, La Shawn. The thing that never ceases to amaze me is that a liberal can climb into a pulpit to “preach” and it’s acceptable. But, let a conservative visit that same church and it becomes a violation of election law.

I have heard about Newt Gingrich speaking of congress as a “plantation” and congressmen being “slaves”…Did he say this to a black audience? He was not pandering to African Americans.

I actually would not object, if Hillary had said what she did the day before or the day after MLK day, and if it was to a mostly white audience.”

No matter what she says now, every white person and every black person in America, who sees the out take, knows she was pandering, whether you want to excuse that or not.

Remember, everyone on both sides of the political line know, that the Democrats and others left of center love to scream racist. They love to watch the other side get indignant. It’s like asking, “Do you still beat your wife?” They love to see some white guy in a suit who may well be the least racist person on the face of the earth, saying “But I’m not a racist.” Ha ha ha ha ha Wow, that’s really funny!

When was there ever a plantation where the slaves could vote to raise their own salaries? Wrong analogy, Ms. Rodham!

RedBeard 01.19.06 at 7:21 am

This whole despicable Hillary episode is a bellwether of the sheer panic in the Democrat ranks. They’re pulling out all the stops to try to keep the Dem-leaning black voting bloc together. They know they cannot possibly win a national election without the black vote. If the black vote shifts even a small amount toward the Republican Party, the Dems are going to be devastated politically.

By painting Republicans as evil masters who run the big plantation, Hillary and her leftist friends hope to use such ridiculous accusations to foment fear and suspicion, and thereby keep the black vote in their camp. It’s a despicable tactic, and one that I hope and pray fails miserably.

RedBeard 01.19.06 at 7:50 am

I went back and read your Obama comments, La Shawn. Exactly right. He’s just another liberal singing the same, tired, off-key song. The only thing that makes him a “rising star” is the phony hype coming from Dem party operatives who hope they can use him as a front man. A shill, if you will, for their agenda.

dianne 01.19.06 at 8:53 am

IMHO I think Hillary’s comment has cooked her nomination goose with the Democrat party. She must get mainstream voters in her camp. As noted in the original post, she already had serious problems with male voters and a lot of women voters. Now, with this comment, she has offended a lot of mainstream voters of both sexes, and I think the Democrat party will realize that she has lost a lot of momentum. Look for the Democrats to go with Warner or someone who has not publicly made a fool of themselves.

Heliotrope 01.19.06 at 11:12 am

Hillary says the HofR is a plantation. Fine. Gringrich said the HofR is a plantation. Fine. Obama explains what Hillary meant. Fine. Hillary says she has said it before. Fine.

We now have three people who get a failing grade in “analogy 101″.

Suppose Newt Gingrich went to a black church on MLK day and said the HofR was a plantation. Would he have had bouquets of sympathy showered on him or a big round horse laugh?

It’s not the word “plantation” that differentiates Hillary’s usage, its the “and you know what I’m talking about.” Spoken like the woman who intends to be the first black female president.

Maybe they should think about calling the HofR a concentration camp or worse than Abu Gharib. Or not.

No matter how thick or thin you slice it, Hillary was still pandering black speak baloney.

Mad Minerva 01.19.06 at 11:44 am

I have heard about Newt Gingrich speaking of congress as a “plantation” and congressmen being “slaves”…Did he say this to a black audience? He was not pandering to African Americans.

But surely you would consider with Newt’s plantation statement he was pandering to some demographic. In Newt’s case the demographic in question would not be African American.

Heliotrope 01.19.06 at 5:38 pm

Here is the answer to who Newt Gingrich was “pandering” to with his plantation reference: “Since [the Democrats] think it is their job to run the plantation, it shocks them that I’m actually willing to lead the slave rebellion,” Newt Gingrich told the Washington Post on October 20, 1994.

Ho, hum. The analogy, no matter what the source is still super lame. What counts is the context: where, when and why was the stupid analogy posited.

Christophe 01.19.06 at 7:26 pm

LaShawn, What I don’t understand is why more black Americans are not insulted by the comment- With all the accomplishments achieved by black Americans the only way to find common ground is to regress back to the days of slavery? In a country where anyone with the gumption and the actual motivation to simply WORK can make a pretty darn good living while saying what they want, worshiping how they want, living (mostly) how and where they want- How spoiled are we? It sickens.

Before I’m implicated in the “lying Republican hypocrites used plantation analogy, too” meme, let me clear the air.

The point is Hillary’s disgusting pandering, and how typical it is for white liberals to be false.

Hektor 01.21.06 at 11:46 pm

Ms Barber:

As always, your cogent and succinct observations on a variety of topics, as well as your unflinching willingness to take tough issues head-on, make your column a pleasure to read.

You’re spot-on when you say “Hillary has to settle for black folks. Drat. Can you imagine what would happen to the Democratic party, architect of Jim Crow, supporter of black genocide, if blacks suddenly became offended en masse by their politically expedient antics and start voting for Republicans?”

Things will change for the better when ordinary people (whites, blacks, Hispanics, Asians, et al) realize that much of what flows from Washington is nothing more than elitist claptrap designed to create division and dumb down the general population…it’s “called divide and rule.” An educated populace is the enemy of tyranny, and by destroying the world’s greatest mass education system, political elites have made it so much easier to shackle minds and inflame passions. Passions are easily engaged, and manipulated, when the mind that would otherwise control them has been deliberately stunted.

This is why liberals “rediscover” blacks every election season, and why they take so many actions whose only possible outcome is to keep them poor, undereducated, and living hopeless lives in crowded urban ghettoes. If they move up in society in proportion to the resources devoted to “helping” them over the past generation, then they’d just be 10% of the population, distributed across a continent-sized country, and voting conservative.

“Outspoken anti-racism conservatives” shouldn’t be bending over backwards defending racist right winged talk show hosts, or attack policies designed to increase minority participation in education and employment, should they? I mean, “friends” don’t do things that purposely harm those they claim are “friends”, do they?

Just asking a question based upon observation of the posts to this blog, which generally imply that American history regarding white conservatives and their treatment of minorities didn’t really happen, and even if it did, it’s all the fault of minorities themselves and white liberals who fight for justice.

cobra:

Much “hypocrisy” lies in the ears of the beholder. Especially when the beholder weaves a semantic spider wed with words like: racist, friend, and justice.

One of the first rules of rhetoric is to base your claim with words that do not bear wide disagreement in their meaning.

One of the first ploys of the demagogue is to choose words that do bear wide disagreement in their meaning and to base his argument upon them.

Very well put, Heliotrope.

Cobra, I’m not your enemy. I don’t do things, purposely or not, to harm you. I realize that nothing I say will remove that huge chip from your shoulder, but I still have to tell you that you are wrong here. Just plain wrong.
