…the homeland insecurity chief. Second, send heavily armed troops to the southern border now!
This is outrageous. Outrageous! I am ill-suited to be “in power” because if I had the arsenal and the might to keep foreigners — so-called hard workers, bums, whatever — from entering this country illegally and Mexican thugs (including Vicente Fox) from terrorizing U.S. citizens and dictating our foreign policy…
Am I the only one angry around here? Let me get myself together before I continue writing.
11:38 p.m.: Let’s see. Mexican thugs dressed in miltary uniforms with guns in a “standoff” with U.S. law enforcement on American soil, and there’s no mention of it on the Department of Homeland Insecurity’s press page, immigration and borders page, or the front page — or what the government plans to do. I see.
Michelle Malkin covered this yesterday, with lots of links. Also see Google news. I’m talking a vacation.
Update: (1/26): Please vist Beyond Borders and Federation for American Immigration Reform.
Michelle Malkin: “Paging the Department of Homeland Security. Hello? Hello?!”

I agree, where is the outrage? Why dont we have dour military down there with assualt rifles taking these waste of oxygen out?
I’m freakin pissed. Enough is enough already!
If the state and federal governments won’t send troops to the border with the resources and power to shoot to kill foreign military types found on our land and carrying weapons, then maybe the local citizenry should take matters into their own hands. After all, isn’t this why our constitution gives citizens the right to bear arms?
If it were up to me, I’d pull 10-20 thousand troops from the middle east and ship them to the border. Or maybe not. We need to stop weapons of mass destruction and terrorists over there before they get here. Maybe we shouldn’t care about a few thousand pounds of marijuana. But then, why can’t we do both?
Why isn’t GWB doing more to protect our borders? As a former Texas Governor and now into his 2nd presidential term, he certainly should know more than us ordinary citizens how best to deal with this situation. It is outrageous and something should be done about it.
I live on the border with Canada and it seems like every few weeks there’s another news article about marijuana smugglers being caught crossing the border from Canada into the U.S.; or about someone getting arrested while smuggling people across the border. Should I get a gun?
It’s time to put the 7th Light Inf on border duty.
But I wonder if enforcing the border is considered law enforcement, which means the Posse Comittus (sp?) Act would prevent the use of the Army on the border..
So, we can’t defend our own borders. Because our troops are ridding Iraq of weapons of mass destruction. We don’t want those weapons, because they are a threat to us. Meanwhile, we can’t defend our own borders.
I’ve been outraged for ages over this very thing. I’m in Texas. I have to live with it. Because we can’t defend our own borders.
What do you think would happen if there were a direct attack on us, on U.S. soil, right now? I don’t think we’re the only ones who realize this, do you?
If President Bush doesn’t take action on this, he should be impeached. The damage caused by violent Muslims is more spectacular and of course should not be ignored. But the illegals problem and violations by the mexican military is causing more long-term damage.
La Shawn, let’s be honest. This guy would never have gotten the job had he been for protecting the border. It’s one of Dubya’s shortfalls, along with spending of course. The GOP is going to take serious hits in the Nov elections.
In Phoenix last week, a criminal scumbag commited two break-in’s, hijacked three cars at gunpoint, crashed into as many trying to evade police as he was shooting it out with them, all caught on live helicopter video and all in less than one hour.
Yesterday he was interviewed in jail. Why did he do it? He didn’t want to go back to prison after serving twelve years and being arrested THIRTY-SEVEN times !!
Oh, and two other points of interest if anybody cares: somehow he was just hired for a great paying job to work on our new transit system and…………..he’s here from Mexico “illegaly”. Just another day (yawn) in our sleepy border state, right W?
A quote from a recent post on my blog: ‘[Dang] it, George! Are you paying any attention at all? “Mexican Army troops had several mounted machine guns on the ground more than 200 yards inside the U.S. border.” That’s called an invasion, George. The United States Constitution requires the United States to protect the individual states from invasion. As Commander in Chief that means it’s your job, George. Why in [Heck] aren’t you doing it?’
The Only thing that will turn outrage into action is for all of us who are outraged to contact our state and federal elected officials and express our outrage and challenge THEM to do something about this mess. I have done just that and I challenge all of you to do the same PLEASE. The only reason most of them are doing ANYTHING is because we, their voters, are putting pressure on them. If we don’t stand en masse, they won’t do a thing. The Senate is particularly important.
Dianne
So far, the MSM has DROPPED this story, gone, Nada, done…
And as much as I am truly a GWB supporter, I feel the subject is being “ignored” deliberately by the administration…
Where I live, this isn’t an outrage, it’s more like *life or death*… OURS…
I don’t understand how people can continue to support a so-called “conservative” like George Bush if he allows this type of thing to go unabated. He’s probably too busy trying to pander to Hispanic voters to actually get up the nerve to defend our own borders from an invasion like this.
Well, one way to find out if they were actually Mexican Army or posers, ARREST THEM! They were engaged in a felony act for crying out loud! I especially like the quote from the local law official saying “no one wanted to pull the trigger.” Okay, so you wear those just for decoration? All that is needed is the intent to actually protect the border- If you asked the military for volunteers to stand that duty, you would get more than you need- In fact the Marines I work with everyday are all trying to either volunteer for duty in Iraq or go again. (Maybe according to the Army report recently published, THEY are are too weak to sustain the effort, but not America’s Marine Corps. And for the record, I don’t think the Army is either. Just some political bull-.)
Also, (while up here on the soapbox), I have been sending back requests for donations to the RNC specifically stating why I was withholding my support- namely the weak stance on border security. If we hit them where it hurts, their money machine, maybe- Just maybe- they will pull their heads out of their.. um .. the sand.
Why does this even need ground troops, really? Don’t we have any attack helicopters in the US? Once local law enforcement pinpoints the location, radio in an Apache. If you want to try to avoid bloodshed, give the people in the vehicles 30 seconds to move away. Whether they move or not, take out the vehicles with Hellfire missiles.
What’s Mexico going to do, declare war on us? Ooooohhh, I’m so scared …
Oh, by the way, since Cindy Sheehan said if someone actually invaded the US, she’d be there beating them back with her rolling pin … I wonder where she is? Probably giving head to Hugo Chavez.
Hold up, did I just agree with La Shawn on something?! Seriously though, I have hated the way our borders have been handled for as long as I’ve known what borders were.. and that’s been regardless of who was president, who controlled Congress, etc. During my lifetime we have spent way too much time and resources on security issues outside our country while ignoring the obvious, growing problem at home. I’m sure I’ll be called many things for this, but I say build a wall.. it would be cheaper than the increased costs that legal citizens like myself incur each year as a result of the illegal immigrants.
Let’s face it people, Bush could put a stop to this tomorrow if he wanted to, but either he doesn’t want to, or he’s being told what to do by his “daddy” Vicente Fox. It’s the 25th anniversary of Ronald Reagan’s inauguration…and this clown is the best my party can do? Bush isn’t even fit to carry the Gipper’s jockstrap.
Easy there, children! Let’s back off the blood ‘n gore just a touch! For the poster who was upset ’cause the Border Patrol didn’t charge in guns blazing – would you like to take on two or three mounted .50 cal machine guns with a pistol? Be sure your will is up to date first.
Mexican Army? Got proof? Humvee = Hummer with a cammo paint job, and military surplus, encluding weapons, aren’t that hard to buy/steal. Shoot, I bet a real Humvee could be had in Mexico, for a price. Druglords do have money.
Send in the army? BTDT some years back. One kid got killed, and the military got pulled. Besides, even a light regiment would cost buckets of thousand dollar bills to deploy and maintain, and could only cover a tiny fraction of the border (a few miles tightly, a few tens of miles mobile).
Look, I don’t like it any more than you do. I live in Houston, where where MS13 is getting stronger by the day, and black-on-black crime has rapidly been overtaken by brown-on-brown, and a quarter of the population can’t speak American.
Leon, you asked if you should get a gun. Yes. Get two. Keep them loaded and ready (and WELL out of reach of children) for defense. Practice. Teach your lady how to use them. And pray to God you never have to.
Added note: La Shawn, thanks. This old Texan comes here often, and appreciates you.
Bush doesn’t want to stop it. We can only speculate why. I think him and Fox have soemthing going on, an arrangement. Fox blames US Corporations for the poverty that Mexico suffers and feels Mexicans can be allowed to come and go as they please because of it. But yet he does nothing to stem the entrance of American corporations and so called abusement of his people. George Bush claims mexicans take jobs most americans won’t due and the fuel the economy yet , in reality, they send much of their pay back to Mexico.
So my theory is. As long as Fox and his country makes free money off of America, and as long as Corporations and other entities are allowed to get cheap labor. There will be an open border. Fox is just pimping out his people and Bush (was) looking for the hispanic vote and to make corporate lobbyist happy which = $$$.
And the rest of us here have to pay for it all.
Landmines and troops is what the southern border needs. And a real president willing to back up our laws.
Yo Zakia,
Before you go skipping down “Let’s bag on Bush” lane, This problem did not suddenly appear with the Bush Inauguration. I agree it needs to be stopped and I agree (with most of you) that Bush seems to be ignoring the problem. I’m downright mad about it- but let’s not get unhinged here…..
Waitiminute…I thought you right wingers LOVED Michael Chertoff when he and “Brownie” had that sterling performance during Hurricane Katrina?
Bottom line…Bush’s corporate pals like cheap, undocumented labor, and Bush isn’t going to tick any of them off. Case closed. Think about that Mexican border the next time the President says “he’s trying to keep you safe by spying on you.”
–Cobra
THIS right winger never wrote anything about loving Chertoff or referencing anything about a “sterling performance” re: Katrina, but I agree with you on the “undocumented labor” part. I may blog about this, but I’m withdrawing my support for NSA spying as long as King George allows illegal aliens to run free, drink, drive and kill people, and allows companies to keep hiring them without penalty.
Thanks for that much-needed bucket of cold water.
