You may recall that the Justice Department was threatening to sue Southern Illinois University (SIU) for offering graduate school fellowships based on race, a violation of the Civil Rights Act.
DOJ and SIU have reached a “settlement.” The school will open the fellowships to students of all races. (Source)
SIU “officials” are sticking to their story: We didn’t do anything wrong. The formerly blatant skin color-based scholarships weren’t illegal, they claim, despite the plain language of the Act:
No person in the United States shall, on the ground of race, color, or national origin, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance. (Emphasis added)

According to an article by Declan McCullagh in last Thursday’s C/Net News.com, an anonymous e-mail service, TheAnonymousEmail.com, which advertises all types of anonymous messages, “insulting” (”Were your parents siblings?”) and “complimentary” (”I wish you were single”), filed a lawsuit in federal district court that challenges the new law.

Like the Constitution, the plain English of the Civil Rights Act is clear to anyone, except the Judges who divine the language and find the “hidden meaning” that no one else can see.
Also, the Southern Ill U and Obama and Durbin see the “hidden meaning” as well.
Unfortunately, these politicians are clever – they will find a work-around. Using economics as a criterea, they will give special privilege to Black applicants.
I disagree with many Conservative views, but there is no call for hateful language of the type Damien King sent to La Shawn.
I understand that it can be extremely frustrating to debate someone who disagrees with you, but the only way to “win the hearts and minds” of those who disagree with you (and those who are neutral) is to do so in a respectful and reasonable manner.
I would like to invite Damien King to come down to Anacostia in Washington, DC and call us niggers. Referring to blacks as niggers is a pure racist act. Stop flying your planes into our buildings.

Unless Damien King’s name is, in fact, Damien King, he committed a federal crime. Also, he may be guilty of a hate crime under state or federal law, as well. A white man harrassing a black woman; classic case for invoking those laws, which liberals so love. The IP address identifies his ISP as Cox Cable and another tracing service indicates that there’s a 99% certainty he’s located in or around Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, not Boston, Massachusetts. His ISP will surrender the name, address and other personal information of the holder of the account he used to send his hate mail. Yahoo will also surrender any information they have with respect to the email account, although I note that his personal profile on Yahoo was last updated today and all information was removed. All-in-all, not one of your smarter “anonymous” trolls. He should extremely easy to track down and prosecute.

I would like to say a few words to Damien(666). You know Mr King a great deal can be said about a man that picks on a sista because he thinks it’s okay and since he is blogging he is anonymous. I would like to offer you a deal. How about you and I meeting up and you calling me a nigger to my face since you are so bold. I think you have constipation of the mentation and are in serious need of a mental enema. You should be more considerate to my friend because she is a lady and an intelligent one at that. Thank you so much for finding out that Damien might actually be within my reach. Now if we could just find out Who and Where he is, I’m thinking I might have a friend or two in his immediate area who can accommodate his “liberal” outlook. Liberals love taxes, and traffic fines are nothing more than a “speed tax”, so perhaps he wouldn’t mind a sudden drastic increase in his “speed taxes”
I don’t get emails like this so its effect on me is visceral outrage. Decent people meet argument with counterargument or silent respect. Dehumanizing, racist insults only come from pigs that walk on two legs. Taking up his argument’s extension, I suppose he has black left-wing masters pulling his strings. What a vile idiot.

MLK said he had a dream that people would be judged by the content of their character, not the color of their skin. I can only conclude that Dummien King has the character of a jackass, and this conclusion would hold true if he were black, white, paisley, or plaid.

Wal Mart’s decision to discontinue gun sales in N.O. area may have to do with the fact that guns were one of the first things looted from their stores.
