2/16 —Michelle Malkin spoke at Oberlin College (her alma mater) yesterday. Read the after-report. In light of the “Damien King” hate mail, it’s enlightening, particularly on the subject of “groupthink.”

You may recall that the Justice Department was threatening to sue Southern Illinois University (SIU) for offering graduate school fellowships based on race, a violation of the Civil Rights Act.
DOJ and SIU have reached a “settlement.” The school will open the fellowships to students of all races. (Source)
SIU “officials” are sticking to their story: We didn’t do anything wrong. The formerly blatant skin color-based scholarships weren’t illegal, they claim, despite the plain language of the Act:
No person in the United States shall, on the ground of race, color, or national origin, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance. (Emphasis added)

According to an article by Declan McCullagh in last Thursday’s C/Net News.com, an anonymous e-mail service, TheAnonymousEmail.com, which advertises all types of anonymous messages, “insulting” (“Were your parents siblings?”) and “complimentary” (“I wish you were single”), filed a lawsuit in federal district court that challenges the new law.
