Happy Friday! I will probably add more links over the course of the day.
Homeschooling
- Interview with homeschooling blogger Izzy Lyman at Why Homeschool.
- Karen at Spunky Homeschool is probably the second most well-known homeschool blogger. If you’re looking for resources, contact her.
- As if you need another reason to homeschool your children…
Why the heck does it matter who someone slept with? It’s boring. Accomplishments speak for themselves. Sheesh!
Christian
- Dan Edelen, a blogging pal from way back, changed his domain name and redesigned his blog.
- Christian apologist and debater James White documents Da Vinci Code errors. He links to his Da Vinci Code category and MP3s. For those wondering what became of my “Da Vinci” blog, I decided to scrap it. No time to do it well. Besides, there are plenty of good resources out there. Peruse the links in these posts (keep scrolling).
- Check out the latest Christian Carnival.
Illegal Aliens
- Rocco DiPippo (met at CPAC) changed his mind about amnesty-for-illegal-aliens after the recent demonstrations. Law-breaking foreigners demanding rights was just too much for him. I knew this would happen. Let’s hope other Americans follow suit.
- The #1 reason why liberals support illegal immigration from Mexico: VOTERS! Another group to hustle and exploit. Way to go!
- Move over, black libs. We’re done with you. It’s entitlement time for illegal aliens!
- Amnesty talk boosts rush to the border and smuggling. Thanks, Mr. Bush. Republican readers hate it when I call you “King George,” but it’s an appropriate title, Your Majesty.
- Military on the border, eh? When I see it, sure, I’ll believe it.
Race-related
- Mike S. Adams is a conservative professor in a liberal university who constantly mocks his colleagues, and he still has a job! Incredible. I overlooked a column he wrote called Pin the Tail on the Honky. Give it a read. I’ve blogged about Adams a few times (keep scrolling).
- I don’t know what to make of this, so I’ll skip the editorializing. Just for today.
- The gap: Skin color “diversity,” blaming the white man, and receiving more money won’t close it. Stable families, old-fashioned discipline, hard work, respect and love for learning, ostracizing bad influencers, etc. — these things will help.
- Author Yolanda Young writes about the need for blacks to choose better role models. Better role models, indeed. To infinity and beyond. Why is this man still in office? Can’t the council start proceedings to remove him based on his failure to stay clean, sober and avoid the criminal justice system? Talk about lower standards. Downright embarrassing!
“Thanks!” to Frequent Commenters with Blogs
Dragonlady, Jewels of the Jungle, Fine Dry Wit, The Mad Tea Party, Glamchild, Republican Jen…
How could I have forgotten MJ of Metrolingua? She’s a frequent commenter from way back.
Misc. Shout-outs
- Happy Birthday, Randy Thomas! So you’re an “old head,” too?
- The Real Ugly American interviews black liberal journalist Juan Williams.
- Political blogger Alex Nunez started a hobby blog (about cars) as a respite from the goings-on of politicians and other idiots.
- If you’re not reading Pundit Review, it’s a good time to start, and not just because they’re my clients. Boston bloggers Kevin Whalen and Gregg Jackson are also talk radio show hosts who frequently interview bloggers. It’s traditional and new media combined.
- Fellow Harry Potter fan Pauli (Muggle Matters) has started a political blog. Be careful what you wish for!
- When I started Fantasy Fiction for Christians (FFC), I “met” a number of politically conservative Christian HP fans, including Pauli and Travis Prinzi at Sword of Gryffindor. Travis is presently taking a course on mythology and focusing on the HP books.
- Influenced by the FFC blog, Tami Gill has discovered the joy of the HP series. She just finished Book 3.
- The HP bloggers and I are big fans of John Granger, a wonderful resource for Christian HP fans. Also see Connie Neal. Related: Harry Potter and the Charmed Christians, Part I and Part II.
- Independent Conservative is a prolific blogger who’s been at it for only a few months. Pay him a visit and tell him I sent you.
- I wonder if my face will appear on that banner one day?
I met this cool guy at CPAC earlier this year. - Also see Citizen Journal and Bonnie Writes.

Yes yes, I am an old head. However, I have lost 24 pounds in six weeks (in a good way, not sick from old age) which also makes me a hot head.
::: laughing at the personal lack of humility in the above badly constructed sentence :::
You are beautiful La Shawn, thank you for the shout out! I am off to Disney this afternoon/evening.
I read the article about “The Whiteness Trap” and wonder why, if it truly is a “white world”, more people wouldn’t simply accept that as the situation and adopt to it.
The real issue with mainstream American white culture has never been that there was a problem with its cultural norms and values: the problem has been that it excluded, wrongly, people of all races and ethnicities. Instead of trashing it, more people need to demand their place in it by working toward success UNDER MAINSTREAM TERMS.
In other words, it isn’t WHITENESS, it’s AMERICAN-NESS.
As you’ve suggested here and in the past, the answers are family, discipline, hard work and faith. But what do I know? I’m just a straight white Christian male.
And I’m hanging my head in shame all the way to the bank.
“…the answers are family, discipline, hard work and faith.”
Not necessarily in that order, but that covers the basics. Amen, DC.
I saw Colin Powell speak, and the gist of his speech was that the world isn’t so bad. He even said that China isn’t a threat. It was such a diplomatic speech, even describing it as “vanilla” would be too flavorful.
Hey! Thanks for the link, La Shawn. What a nice surprise!
Ditto what Alex said,
Thanks La Shawn you’re a blessing!
Spunky
Thank YOU, La Shawn.
Thank you for the mention, La Shawn! When I saw it, I was as giddy as Nancy Pelosi would be if she had enough votes to impeach the President.
Speaking of President Bush, he just had a ‘keep your enemies closer’ moment-a press event about a meeting where Colin Powell and Mad Albright were invited to give their input about Iraq and the War on Terror along with VP Cheney and Condi Rice. Showing solidarity, I guess. Thanks again, La Shawn, and continue to have a great day.
Ms. Barber you are too kind

from this latest blog list. i’m guessing your one of those black people who think racism doesn’t exist. black people can achieve the american dream if they just believe in themselves and work hard. all will be fine and dandy right?!
You’d get a lot further in life if you tone down the sarcasm and use your brain. You’re a new reader and obviously unaware of this fact: I’ve never said or written that racism doesn’t exist. Don’t play to type. Write something meaningful, or get lost. – Admin
I think that Harry Potter should be a must read for all Conservatives. Cornelius Fudge bears a strong resemblance to the leftists who don’t want to accept the reality that we are in serious danger from Islamofascists.
P.S. Love your blog
La Shawn,
Thank you so much for the mention of my blog domain change and redesign. I also tackled homeschooling this week, ironically.
Blessings on your blogging.

Happy Friday to you, La Shawn!
Thanks for the shout-out! I feel so loved! Have a great weekend.
La Shawn, you are so right about illegals becoming pawns for the DEMS, in California you do not even have to show an I.D. to register and vote, I think some close races have been won becuase of illegals voting on the left wing side, Republicans better wake up to this.
Fabulous looking list there, La Shawn! And a very happy weekend to you.
By the way… because of my sister’s nagging (ahem. ;oD) and your gentle nudging, I just picked up the Harry Potter books last week. For the first time.
I *nyah* on both your houses for my recent late-night reading induced insomnia. ;o)
Rest easy, everybody! Thanks for the comments.
Jewels: Whatever you do, stay away from the FFC blog and others HP blogs I link to. They’re full of spoilers. (I almost wrote “spiders.” Remind of anybody from the books?) Welcome aboard!
La Shawn,
Thanks for the link love, dawling.
“Republican readers hate it when I call you “King George”
Well, it’s actually more appropriate to call him “King Jorge” when speaking of illegal immigration.
Did you see this story La Shawn?
The evidence for the need to homeschool just keeps mounting.
According to the news story linked below, this teacher thinks blacks are inferior to whites. Here’s a quote: “Intellectually, yes they are,” said McCuen. “This has been confirmed over and over, and this is a generalization. Again, there are some blacks who are more intelligent than individual whites. But as a rule, that is true. I-Q tests prove it over, and over and over.”

Happy Mother’s Day everyone!
Love, Maxine
LaShawn, Thanks for the link to Independent Conservative. That was great and linked to Fire and Hammer, another great blogger…
In response to spunkyhomeschool: I saw it noted on another blog which shall remain nameless-the blogger agreed with some of the points. I think the post opens up the door to re-confirm racial prejudices in the minds of those who seek approval for their racist mindset.
Skin color does not determine intelligence!
Replace IQ tests with EQ. Education quotient. But administer the tests first to the teachers, the “Educators” so that the results for the students
can be quantified. You can’t fault kids for not learning if they haven’t been adequately taught.
I almost fell over when I saw the title of your post as well as the graphic! And then I got a “Shout Out” and my day was complete!
Thanks so much. Keep up the good work–your writing is an inspiration to me!
Thanks for the mention–I just noticed it because I was out of town, thus away from blogs. Hopefully one day I’ll get into a situation where I can interview you.
