If they can use hypnosis as anesthesia during major surgery, they can use it to make you forget.

I refuse to get a grip. lol

Lately, I have been studying hypnosis. I am under the impression, that through a deep hypnotic trance, you could actually create a post-hypnotic suggestion which would make someone 'forget' a crime or have a false memory of a crime.

A criminal could commit a crime and be hypnotized to truly believe they had not done it. This person could pass any lie detector test.

Crazy stuff out there - that's it, I'm never leaving the house!

lol

Actually, I was reading in a scientific journal where we are within 10 years of being able to wear contact lenses which record everything we see or do or hear. Also, using OLED's be able to bring up data on anyone you see. Just look at them and think "who is that" and data on them will appear like letters floating in the air. they will alos indicate to you whether the person speaking to you is lying, attracted to you, etc.

Pretty amazing stuff.

"It could have various levels, but at it’s most basic, it would track all of your movements, voluntarily by GPS. "

Interesting thought.

A brainstorm occurred to me that a digital audio recorder set on surveillance like store cameras on a watch might be useful in situations where people commonly get into “misunderstandings.”

Police use cams, since there is commonly a “misunderstanding” about how drunk or what was said.

It may be advisable to try to avoid situations where misunderstandings are possible, such as having drunk sex with a one-night stand you know nothing about.

There may be privacy concerns with recording all conversations, but if I had more time to waste, I would guess that someone, some company thought about it and may be marketing something online.

Actually, I think there is a basis for a new business here. We will call it www.alibi.com.

It could have various levels, but at it's most basic, it would track all of your movements, voluntarily by GPS. You would also voluntarily have a tiny chip implanted so that the tracking couldn't be faked. You would have a 24/7 record of your where-abouts.

Higher levels of service would include full-video surveillance of your home or just audio if that is too intrusive. You could even go so far as 'contracts to have sex', lol but that might be kind of an anti-aphrodesiac - lol.

This idea is only tongue-in-cheek, but seriously, it may just come to this.

You know how homes with alarm systems have stickers on the window warning crooks that the house is protected by some alarm service?

Men could wear a button that said, "Warning: This man is protected by Alibi.com. Any attempts to screw him over will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law"...

:)

P.S., It seems the truly sad part here is that, in order for a man to be innocent here, he must "prove a negative" - which we all know is impossible.

UNK,

It does make a man nervous though. We have all had that relationship where we had great enthusiasm about a woman initially, but after a month or so, interest wained and we wanted to no longer see them.

What happens then if she fabricates some story of sexual abuse, goes to the police and files a report?

It is then up to me to account for my whereabouts 24 hours a day, hire an expensive lawyer and , God help me, if it gets into the press, have my business ruined?

Also, what of the man who cannot afford $400,000 bail? Does he sit in jail and rot for a year waiting for trial?

From this case I have learned that the accuser can have no credibility, be a hooker, a known liar, a known substance abuser with a criminal past and I can have been well educated, from a good family, upright citizen of the community, and yet, all it takes is a word from her and my life is in shambles?

It gives a whole new meaning to "hell hath no fury like a lover scorned".

Also, what if she has an accomplice, maybe a former boyfriend and they have decided together to file these charges then sue me civilly? He beats her up a little, has rough sex with her then she goes to file charges?

It is very very scary. As a matter of fact, I am sure this exact thing has happened many times. Every man of significant financial means should be scared to death of this as any vindictive woman can ruin his life with a word.

"Ok, assuming nothing new comes out than what we know now, is there ANY way these boys could actually be convicted here?"

Sadly, there is always a chance of the wrong man, men being convicted for any crime.

The system is far from perfect. This is a standard anti-death penalty argument.

But I would not worry about it to the extent of not leaving the house, which I assume was a joke. Statically, you are more likely to be shot with your own gun, die in a car accident, or even be killed by terrorists than to be falsely convicted of rape or murder.

"Also, who are these “talking heads” you’re referring to? Talking heads don’t talk about black crime, and they certainly didn’t need or want the Virginia case. "

While the “politically correct” talking heads generally don’t talk about black crime, because the blacks themselves are victims of discrimination, the politically correct talking heads would like a case exactly like the Duke case, except for the races reversed with the black defendants convicted to justify their demands for "equal" treatment of the Duke boys.

If you go back 50 or 80 years, one might find many similar cases where the word of loose white women convicted clearly innocent black men, such as the Scottsboro boys.

Of course there is a wide variety of bloggers and talking heads, and some such as Ms. Barber or Bill Cosby or the author of Winning the Prize who do talk about black crime.

"I will never forget him smirking, laughing and shaking his head as Evans attorneys told the judge they had an air-tight alibi."

Unfortunately, this happens all the time and not because the people are evil. By the time a case gets to trial, 90% plus of the defendants are guilty of some of the charges, and 90% plus of the time an alibi is bull.

Even defense lawyers gripe about their clients in general lying to them.

There are almost no Perry Mason moments – this case may be an exception if they find cell phone records that the accused called during the alleged rape, or if a couple of other girls come forward claiming they were raped. But the lack of Perry Mason moments causes lawyers to become cynical – even more cynical than police since at the early stages not everyone can be guilty and some of the alibis are true.

Many lawyers even get out of criminal practice because they can’t stand working with guilty clients almost all the time.

Speaking of the alibi, someone should tell the accuser’s cousin not to say “I could get an alibi” and not to justify the others dancer’s crime by “gotta do what you gotta do.” Working two jobs to pay child support is doing what you gotta do. Stealing $25,000 is not what you gotta do. It makes one think that the next thing she will say is the victim made up the story because she had to do it.

“I will never forget him smirking, laughing and shaking his head as Evans attorneys told the judge they had an air-tight alibi.”
