Angela BassettUpdate: Bloggers who’ve picked up the meme: Nobody asked me, but…, Tami Gill, Metrolingua, customer servant
—————————————————-

1. Are you craving anything and if so, what?

— I’m craving a return to a certain childhood moment when my family took its annual road trip to New York City. Father driving, mother in the passenger seat, siblings asleep all around me, sun peeking through the clouds at dawn — It’s the safest and most content I’ve ever felt in my life.

2. What is the weather outside, and do you wish it would change?

— Speaking of family, I’m currently in not-so-sunny SC. Hurricane Ernesto and I ended up in the same place, I see. :?

Despite the noncommittal smilie, I rather like the wind and the rain.

3. What two websites do you think you will go to next after you are finished here?

Bloglines, for sure, to read the latest posts and articles from 10 or so favorite blogs (which I will blog about one day) and few a publications. Then I’ll head back to Yahoo! Mail to check for high priority e-mail that needs to be answered before the weekend.

4. Do you wish you were somewhere else and if so, where?

— I’m presently where I want to be right now, but if I could be anywhere else, it would be on an airplane to London with a few family members and friends to spend several weeks touring the country.

5. Do you wish you were someone else, and if so, who?

— Hmm…I don’t wish I were someone else. I wish I had someone else’s wealth and accomplishments (a fat bank account, stock and writing portfolios, etc.).

Let’s modify this. If I could look like someone else, it would be gorgeous actress Angela Bassett.

Who will I bother today? I tag:

  1. Yea, Ernesto and I are good friends too. (incidentally, La Shawn. You went south, Ernesto went north. Not to be a pain in the tush or anything… ;o)~

Actually, I love this kind of weather. I have my door open, I’m listening to the wind and rain, I have my favorite Chicago Bears blanket wrapped around me.

I feel cozy, and warm and very, very happy.

#3- I’m heading over to Right Wing News… a little birdie told me you’d be posting there today….

and then I’ll probably check out bloglines, since I’ve never heard of it before. :o)

  2. Thanks for the correction, Jewels. What was I thinking? Well, my tush is hurting only a little bit. ;)

  3. Next blogs? Dr.Sanity http://tinyurl.com/em99a
    American Thinker http://tinyurl.com/ccxbz

I’ll check out Bloglines - although there are _so_ many good blogs out there, I have to depend on a few really good bloggers (like yourself!) to check them out and distill them when there’s something worthwhile! So many blogs, so little time!

I live in an almost coastal town in So.Calif - weather is as close to perfect as you can ask for. We’ll probably sell and retire one of these days, and when we do, it will be somewhere where the weather won’t be nearly as perfect - a fact we moan and groan about each time we consider almost anywhere else.

I’ve never heard of Angela Bassett before - I don’t do movies much - but she _is_ a beautiful woman…I can sure see why you’d pick her! I’d settle for just looking like I did some 40 years ago - not in the movie actress class, but I’d still settle for it!

  7. Thanks, mj. Pingbacks are, among other things, automatic trackbacks. Blogger doesn’t have that function, either. Even if your blog doesn’t have the feature, you can still send trackbacks through a third party platform. I like Simpletracks:

  10. Very good posts lately. When I heard Juan Williams rightly call out the “Reverend Al” I thought, “I wonder if Lashawn knows about this?” But you were up on it right away.

BTW, why are all the famous ‘Als’ so lame? You got Al Gore, Al Sharpton, Al Franken (Al Qaeda)? Hmmmmmm…..

  12. 1. Are you craving anything and if so, what?
Yes! I crave the great out doors of Washington state or Arkansas.

    2. What is the weather outside, and do you wish it would change?
Very hot but no, I am actually enjoying it.

    3. What two websites do you think you will go to next after you are finished here?

    Foxnews.com, WND.com, then IRNnews.com, in that order.

    4. Do you wish you were somewhere else and if so, where?

    See #1.

    5. Do you wish you were someone else, and if so, who?
Angel Basset, nice choice, although I think you are just fine the way you are Miss Barber.

As for me, I would be myself ten years ago, in better shape, and a little faster.

  14. Labor Day Meme From La Shawn

Well, my favoritist La Shawn ever tagged me with the following meme: 1. Are you craving anything and if so, what? - Pecan Pie. I just ate at Seasons 52 with a friend. It was awesome and I wouldn’t have changed a thing. It was also very healthy… whic…

  15. I have a toothache right now, thus I am craving a good pain killer.

The weather is awful. It is blowing rain, and yes I wish it would change to clear, calm, and forever stationary temperatures that require nothing warmer than a light jacket or blazer.

I will go to my own blog first to reread my returning lone commenter’s disagreeing and challenging comment and work on my response to it. I will also go to wordpress through yahoo where I am setting up another blog.

I am where I want to be, which is home on a windy rainy Friday night.

Somewhat like Jerry (#12 post), I want to be that slimmed down person I was in the summer of 2001 and then again in the fall of 2003.

  16. 1. Are you craving anything and if so, what?

A big plate of pork ribs, with a nice honey barbecue glaze, with the meat falling off the bone. Some nice slaw or potato salad & bbq baked beans on the side.

    *Sigh*

    2. What is the weather outside, and do you wish it would change?

    O.k. at the moment.

–I prefer mild Fall weather days. Here in the Midwest, the temperatures turn moderate of course, the rain is more steady, and most of the severe weather eases up. Winter, Spring, & Summer have the severe weather… you can keep that.

    3. What two websites do you think you will go to next after you are finished here?

    *The Moderate Voice

*USAJobs (continuing my seemingly futile job search).

    4. Do you wish you were somewhere else and if so, where?

    -Yes.

Chicago Ill, or Dallas TX, living in a nice big house in the burbs, without a care.

    5. Do you wish you were someone else, and if so, who?

-Always wished I was someone else. No single person in particular. But Robert De Niro, or Johnny Depp wouldn’t be bad choices.

Just a handsome Italian-American guy with a lot of money & a great career…. that would do. lol
“The Bachelor TV Show” guy that 90% of women compete over, lol.

  17. 1. I’m not craving anything. I’m fed (not overly) and waiting for my daughter & her friend to finish up in the kitchen, and then we’re going to sit down and watch Run, Lola, Run.

    2. The weather (So. Cal.) is perfectly pleasant. No wish for change.

    3. Two websites next: Malott’s Blog (malottblog.blogspot.com, Michelle Malkin)

    4. Nope. Hanging out with my daughter (she’s 19) is where I want to be.

    5. Nope. Like others, though, I’d like to be the way I was when I was 25: just finished four months on bicycles in Europe–fabulous shape. Oh, if only!

  18. Craving anything?

Tough to decide. I would like to have my health back but there are so many worse off than me that sounds mostly selfish. I miss my sister badly. She was helping out in an emergency room in Chicago after a major accident and got hepatitis. Took five and a half years to finish out. She was the talented and attractive one in our family. I miss her.

    The weather outside.

It is 42 outside and rather cool. Got snow in a small patch of our town a week ago. I wish we were getting more moisture out here in the west.

    2 websites yet today

Gotta list 3. Jewish World Review, Power line, and I check out the Daily Kos if for no other reason than to constantly be amazed at deliberate blindness. And Mrs Malkin.

Do I wish I were somewhere else? Where?

My wife lives in this house. There is no other place in this world I would rather be. But because of my health problems, someday she and I will live at a lower elevation.

Do I wish I were someone else?

Why? This mortal life is at least partly so we can prove to ourselves who we really are.

    Tag - Maybe, Dr Sanity

And retro, bored at work? If I am it is my fault!

  21. 1. I miss the old soda fountains….today’s ‘Coffee Houses’ just don’t do it for me. Also the ‘General Store’…maybe with a bit of sawdust on the floor, and they had all kinds of sundry notions and doodads. Today’s big box ‘Superstores’ lack charm and are too sterile.

    2. It looks to be sunny. Yes, I’m ready for a change in the weather. I do like rain, but not flooding, just enough rain to add ‘atmosphere’…..don’t like wind, though. Just a nice slight, but still, rain would do me!

    3. After this, I’m going to my own blog/website. How self-absorbed of me!

    4. I too hot to be anywhere else, right now; however, I wish I could go back to 1979. That was a great year.

    5. Not a person, but I’d like to be my cat. Cats seems to have a great life. They eat and sleep whenever they want, wherever they want, and they do all those impossible stretches and jumps.

I think it’d be fun to be a sea otter, sea lion, or seal—they have that smooth, sleek and shiny coat of skin, and they seem warm and friendly.

  25. $300,000 each for FEMA trailers?

I think you are off by one zero. The amount I heard was $30,000 PLUS about $30,000 for installation.

All this Katrina one-year anniversary has been in news so I can’t remember where I heard it. On C-Span there was a Book-TV with author of “Disaster” and I saw some critical TV show on Public Television on how some Florida newspaper uncovered fraud against FEMA prior to New Orleans.
