White liberals can be quite the intolerant fools, can’t they?

I didn’t get a chance to blog about the so-called protest against members of the Minuteman Project at Columbia University. The students rushed the stage and attacked Jim Gilchrist, MP founder.

And someone (or more than one) called black Minuteman Marvin Stewart a “nigger.” See “Darky, keep thy place!” I contacted him for an interview. I’ll keep you posted.

Read about Columbia’s latest lunacy, and follow this link to read previous posts about the Minuteman Project.

Much more later. I’m doing something really cool today that I can’t tell you about yet. Stay tuned. ;)

Update (10/13): Lawrence Auster says this about Columbia U’s decision to close an event to the public at the last minute: “So, because leftist students had disrupted a College Republicans event last week, conservative non-students with reservations were closed out of a College Republicans event this week.”

Tell the “disinviter” what you think:

Update II (10/14): LA Times condones violence against the Minuteman Project speakers. Do they advocate slurs, too?

  1. Oh boy, Columbia just keeps pooping its pants, doesn’t it? What a disgrace to the entire concept of “higher education.”

Looking forward to reading your interview with the Minuteman.

  2. Open Borders Leftists Call Minuteman Project Board Member Marvin Stewart the N-Word and a Klansman.

The picture of the man in this post (photo credit USAToday) is Marvin Stewart. An American who is concerned about America’s open borders. A minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. A board member of the Minuteman Project. And as is visibly …

  3. The liberal left is afraid to stand up for what they believe in: Punitive taxes on the rich and middle classes, national health care system, expanded nanny-state bureaucracy, dismantling the military, more government regulation of business, egalitarian payments to raise the poor from poverty, the blurring or differences between the states and the reduction of state government powers, and much more.

They do not argue these ideas because they will be defeated on every one of them in an open debate. The United States is not in love with socialism and nor receptive to it.

So, the liberal left picks at the rest of us. They call us names. They get so worked up they curse and abuse. They would find many more fellow travelers if they moved to Canada, England, Sweden, Germany, France, etc. But they don’t really want to move to places already strangling on socialism.

So they pitch fits and act like the brats they are. At least they have the mainstream press on their side.

  4. It’s not just that, Helio, they shun personal responsibility too…”Oh, it’s not my fault..I uhm…I have bi-polar, so all is forgiven!”

I love their “tolerance” stance…Yes, you’re considered Tolerant, as long as you espouse their view of things…This is perfectly illustrated by the lovely (rolls eyes) Barbara Streisand.

“Shut the $&*# up”…Tolerance indeed. It’s more like “thanks for your 240+ dollars…now I’m going to subject you to my politics, that, which by the way, should be yours too! because I’m better than you! You don’t agree? You intolerant ”

    The left sickens me.

  5. As a libertarian, I propose in the name of freedom of speech, that the campus Republicans join up with all libertarian-minded students to surround future stages of all college speakers with baseball bat-armed students. We should form “free speech battallions” armed with our trusty “truth sticks” to ensure that all speakers get a right to be heard without being rushed off the stage.

  6. I love the teaser on what you are doing that you can’t talk about. I saw the video of that horrible travesty and pray that you can get an interview with that gentlemen.

  7. This was reported somewhere on the radio as one of the Columbia students claiming that they were “attacked” by the Minutemen on the stage. On the stage. OK….now just exactly what were the students doing _on the stage_??? Now, if they said that the Minutement jumped _off_ the stage and attacked them, I could have been a bit shocked (especially considering the relative ages, but that’s beside the point), but they were attacked by the Minutemen _on_ the stage? Unbelieveable!

    Comment by suek — 10.12.06 @ 1:03 pm

  8. What I would like to know (it’s my accounting background) is just WHO is going to reimburse the group for the cost of bringing out the speakers? Will the people who rushed the stage pay in dollar amounts? Or do the Young Republicans have to pay for leftist antics?

  9. suek,

it’s another shunning of personal responsibility on leftists parts, I’d say…”I didn’t do it! They did it!”

  10. I saw the video a few days ago. If liberals think of the black minuteman as a nigger”, would they consider him a “good nigger” if he was against the minutemen? I said it once, and I will say it again. Liberal are the most intolerant, closed minded people in America. In their eyes, a black person is suppose to serve their liberal ideology just because there black. Tell me how this is no different then slavery? The kicker in the video was the racist liberals calling the minutemen the KKK lol. Liberals need to look in the mirror.

I’m pretty liberal, at least socially, and I don’t believe in any of those things except the national healthcare system. I’d like to see something more efficient than the current Medicaid system, which is a complete disaster and a waste of tax dollars.

    Comment by Carol — 10.12.06 @ 3:32 pm

  17. Carol, I live in a country which has socialized medicine. You don’t want that, trust me.

When American liberals think of national health insurance, they always imagine their own wonderful, private insurance coverage, only, FREE! And for everyone! Well, that’s not what you get. You get substandard medical care, doctors who are overworked, nurses who are overworked, long waiting lists for an appointment, a loss of freedom and flexibility to see the doctors of your choice, and a fight every single time you want a prescription medicine or a surgical procedure.

Think of the worst HMO you can imagine. That’s socialized medicine, and if you have a complaint, no one gives a damn. I know what I’m talking about. Oh, and Canadians aren’t too happy with their national health service either.

  18. O’Reilly had the president of the Young Republicans AND the leader of the protest against the Minutement on his show last week. The Y.R. was reasonable and calm. The protest leader, a young woman, was condescending and smug to both Mr. O and to her opponent - but became increasingly flustered when O’Reilly consistently pointed out to her that she wasn’t ANSWERING the qustions he asked her and that she hadn’t been invited onto the show to bloviate! Is there anyone more pretentious than a college student, while still being utterly lacking in common sense and life wisdom?

I know we were all that young, but the mind reels!

  19. >>…but became increasingly flustered when O’Reilly consistently pointed out to her that she wasn’t ANSWERING the qustions…>>

Ah yes. One of my pet peeves. Someone - anyone - asks a question (and yes, I watch Fox news, so it’s usually there, but not always…talk radio is pretty much the same) and the conservative answers the question, the Dhimmicrat talks around and around and never does answer whatever was asked. Sometimes it seems that they don’t even _hear_ the question…they just have a green light that says they’ve been asked a question, and they go on to the next talking point. If they don’t make _any_ effort to answer reasonable questions, I’m agin ‘em.

  20. #19 seuk reports that: “the Dhimmicrat talks around and around and never does answer whatever was asked….”

I think the liberals call that “nuance.” Which means, suek, that you and I are too dumb to know what is good for us and we should be grateful that they are willing to do our thinking for us.

  22. chap commenting on another site summed up quite nicely the left’s (and only the left’s) “fluid” attitudes towards free speech.

“the incessant lefty bleat of ‘Having Our Voices Heard’ has no credibility. being heard isn’t the point. what they want is to be obeyed.”

liberal-leftwinger-stalinist-totalitarian…..it’s all the same philosophy. only difference is just the matter of degree. way to go, columbia! proud stifler of unauthorized-by-the-party speech! really, they’re just like the brave patriots who risked their lives, fortunes, and sacred honor when they founded this country.

  24. Both this incident and the one involving the dis-inviting of attendees for the Walid Shoebat event is just way over the top!

It amazes me that the leftist campuses are so virulently anti-Christian and pro-Islamic fascism! They don’t even try to hide their bias, either!!

We need to spread word about both of these incidences and share this information throughout the blogosphere. People need to wake up and see who the leftist loonies at secular American Universities are and notice how they are involved with stamping upon the free speech rights of conservative Republican and/or Christian students!!

It’s all about leftist extremism and indoctrination, folks!!

We can no longer just sit by and let this happen to our college students! Something big needs to change and I hope that the blogs will at least help bring about such change!!

La Shawn - I wanted your opinion of the following excerpt from the question and answer session (got this via the Columbia Spectator page).

A young black male questioner said that although the speakers spoke positively about the United States, he (the questioner) felt that for a black man the United States was a very violent place. Also, Walid had expressed his admiration for Martin Luther King Jr, and the questioner asked what about Malcolm X. Anani responded that if the questioner thought the United States was violent, welcome to Beirut, where, for 30 years, 200-300 people were killed in the streets daily. Look at Iraq now, where Sunnis and Shiites are killing each other. All through the Muslim world, sectarian violence is a problem, and it has nothing to do with the United States. Walid said that all countries have problems, but Abu Ghraib and Baruch Goldstein are exceptional, and acts of violence and hate crimes are routinely denounced in the United States and Israel, whereas the Muslim world celebrates killings of Americans and Jews. He said he did not have a high opinion of Malcolm X, who, unlike MLK, preached divisiveness rather than love.

  25. When American liberals think of national health insurance, they always imagine their own wonderful, private insurance coverage, only, FREE! And for everyone!

No, I’d rather like a system like most states have that’s separate from Medicaid. There’s an income restriction, but it’s relatively generous. Once you pass the limit, you’re then expected to pay, just like you would with group insurance at work. But since the “pool” is so large, the co-payments are reasonable. Right now I have a self-pay plan with CareFirst BC/BS and it’s extremely expensive. But since I’m self-employed, I don’t have a boss taking care of me — I have to do everything myself. Which is fine, but it would be nice to have a larger pool to share insurance with. Right now the Maryland plan only extends to children, but there’s a push to offer it to all residents. I would gladly pay, since it’s a happy medium between no insurance and what I pay now.

No way in heck I’d want a “free ride” from the government. The only person who hands anything out for free is the devil or the dope man. No thank you, ma’am! ;-)

  27. A common theme is to attack the left. That’s no surprise. But more specifically, they attack “liberals” who have nothing at all to do with the government. For instance, Rude and Intolerant Liberals at Columbia University from La Shawn Barber’s blog details in the horrible liberals shouting down members of the Minuteman Project. See how crazy liberals are? How out of touch the universities are? And they are hypocrite racists too. And someone (or more than one) called black Minuteman Marvin Stewart a “nigger.”
