DESPITE thopusands of Amerticans getting involved in stopping Illegal Immigration through NUMBERSUSA and Minutemen etc the Congress and the President are willfully IGNORING the wishes of the people. They are beholden not to the people but to the Corporate traitors who have bought them off. As far as the Dems like Ted Kennedy they want the votes and desire a socialist state. Bush , I believe is working toward a North American Union so he is letting these hordes invade our country to push for this joining of the Canadian,Mexican and US governments. I truly believe that is his plan. There is no other logical reason for Bush to allow this to continue unabated. He is doing this without consent of the Congress or the American people. I never thought I would think or say this about him, but his actions are like those of a dictator. He is doing to this country what he wants to do. In past history this would prompt a revolution ala "taxation without representation". I think Americans should refuse to file Federal taxes en masse until he SECURES the border for real. His claims now with Chertoff are plain old lies and a smokescreen meant to quell the outrage Americans feel about the anarchy that is taking over this country. I am madder than I have ever been. Yet many Americans do not care or don't believe it. I fear it will be too late when they finally wake up!

The Illegal immegration problem is NOT IMPORTANT because AMERICANS are MORE INTERESTED in SOAP OPERA'S, FOOTBALL, BASEBALL, BASKETBALL, STOCK CAR RACING , & many other DISTRACTIONS. While everyone is being ENTERTAINED by their FAVORITE SPORTS HERO, OUR CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS are being CUT OUT OF THE CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. BY WHO ? OUR TRUSTWORTHY ELECTED OFFICIALS. WE the PEOPLE need to WAKE-UP, & TAKE BACK OUR COUNTRY, BEFORE( if it is not too late ) our GOVERNMENT turns AMERICA into A NEW WORLD ORDER. The I. A. ( ILLEGAL ALIEN ) PROBLEM was created by OUR GOVERNMENT, so the only way to solve the I.A. problem is to CLEAN UP OUR GOVERNMENT. WE the PEOPLE has the POWER, the MAJORITY, & from what WE have seen from the TRACK RECORD of our CONGRESSMEN , SENATORS & the PRESIDENT ( sorry I know, but HE does hold the TITLE ), WE have more INTELIGENCE than most of them do. The MAIN HURDLE that AMERICANS need to get OVER is to stop ALL of the FIGHTING on the ISSUES & instead, AGREE on A GOAL & work TOWARDS IT TOGETHER. We are FIGHTING each other over RACE, RELIGION, & POWER. While the GOVERNMENT is LAUGHING at us behind closed doors. HOW MANY of "WE" are there in AMERICA compared to the GOVERNMENT? I REFUSED to VOTE DEMOCRATE or REPUBLICAN this last ELECTION, I VOTED LIBERTERIAN because of their GOALS are FOUNDED ON THE CONSTITUTION. ARE YOUR RIGHTS IMPORTANT ? IF SO , STOP BEING A CHRONIC COMPLAINER, or a BACK SEAT POLITICAL ANALYSTS, & WAKE-UP & GET INVOLVED.

I appreciate your feedback, Charles, but next time, take it easy with the CAPS, please. - Admin

I don't think the update on Romney is fair. So what are we supposed to do - question every Mexican working on our yard or in our house? I just had a house built. I would come over from time to time and see Mexicans doing the drywall or the tile. I thought about quizzing my builder who was a dream of a guy, but I didn't. I thought what should I do - ask to see their green card? Several of them couldn't speak English and I knew, deep down, they weren't legal but as angry as I am about illegal immigration, I didn't say anything.

I don't know if I'm madder at myself or the feds. Why should I have to take the law into my own hands? Or, should I?

Illegal aliens arrested while working in secure area of airport

LaShawn Barber has a great post about a company, TC Drywall, that had been hired to hang drywall in a secure area of Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.

What Dems oppose is ID laws that would disproportionately impact the poor and elderly.

Bullsquat.
Georgia's law provided for the state to drive directly to the home of any prospective voter upon request and provide them with the requirements for an ID. No charge, no leaving of the house, no nothing save for contacting the gov't & asking for the service.

Alas, that task is STILL too much to ask (maybe if they throw in a few food stamps & a welfare check everything will be hunkey-dorey?). Whatever, but please, don't try the Dem talking points when it comes to Georgia: won't wash, no matter how many times you try.

"#4. The Port Deal. It was Democrats who stirred up the fuss that eventually sank the Republican plan to sell our Ports to foreign interests. (I think the mid term elections had something to do with that issue as well… I don’t think people forgot about that one…. as forgetful as Americans are)." (AI)

Actually the Dubai Ports deal was first and most vehemently opposed by Conservatives, like Michael Savage and Rush Limbaugh (Hannity & O'Reilly supported it) and Conservative Pols like Long Island's Pete King.

To date, virtually NONE of our ports are managed by U.S. companies, as there's not enough profit in it for U.S. concerns.

Moreover, Dubai still helps the U.S. train Iraqi police and soldiers, and inspects cargo destined for America while it's in foreign ports.

None of that had anything near the impact that America's vehement opposition to illegal immigration did on the most recent elections.

The "Moderate-wing" of the GOP wants that cheap labor, while the Dems think more immigrants = more votes.

Of the two stances on that issue, the Dem's stance is the more foolish by far, as all those devout, socially Conservative Catholics from places like Mexico and the Phillipines are not going to be voting for secular progressive Dems once esconced here.

In fact, second generation Mexicans follow the voting patterns of most other ethnic Catholics, voting in more Conservative candidates.

The Democrats were moved hard Right and back toward the center last month when some 31% of evangelical Christians voted for "New (mostly Conservative) Dems," like North Carolina's Heath Schuler.

While the "cheap labor" argument is horrible , both economically and security-wise, the open borders for "diversity's sake" is even more disastrous.

Oh, and Daniel Medley is right in that Democrats opposed a Georgia plan for FREE voter ID cards, complete with photo units that would visit poor areas to assure everyone got a free picture ID.

In fact, Georgia is one of seven states that now request to see a photo ID beofre one votes and all of these are accepted forms of ID in GA:

Any of the following are acceptable, provided they contain a photograph of the elector:

Georgia driver’s license

Georgia voter ID card (available for free to registered electors who do not have a valid driver’s license or state-issued ID card)

ID card issued by the state of Georgia, any entity of the state, any other state or the federal government

U.S. passport

Employee ID card issued by the federal or state government or any entity of the state

U.S. military identification card

Tribal ID card

Daniel,

That's actually not true....

Republicans use that as a tool for disinfranchising voters...

What Dems oppose is ID laws that would disproportionately impact the poor and elderly.

Dems are not against ID laws for voting per se.... The position of most Dems is that if we are to have such a requirement, then there must be a way to make sure that everyone has the ID that wants one or needs one. Access should be easy.

In most of the Republican proposals, access and proper distribution of the ID was not guaranteed.... and the issue of what type of ID would be o.k. was too restrictive.

In the cases of Missouri and Georgia (two of the major voter ID cases this year), it was pretty clear what Republicans were trying to do, and that is why judges in both cases struck down the laws.... they were basically Republican political attempts to impact the outcome of elections in their favor....it really had little to do with a fair voter ID system.

Read the situation in Georgia, where there were only a handful of places in the State to get the ID and it was harder to get an ID in the Atlanta area (where the most poor, the most minorities, and the most elderly reside in one place). Voters were required to travel several miles to find the location.... something that the poor and people without a car could not do.

The Georgia law was a pretty clear political move by Republicans. Had nothing to do with a fair & comprehensive voter ID system (which most Dems support).

Maybe someone would be kind enough to post an article about the Georgia voter ID case....I don't have the time... but it was outrageous what they were doing there.

The Angry Independent,

Let us not forget that, generally, the Democrats have vehemently opposed the notion of valid ID checks at polling stations as well.

With the percentage of American's who are upset with the illegal alien invasion and at our Government's inability to enforce laws already on the books or to just shut down the border one would think we as constituents could force the hand that feeds them but after our recent elections it becomes evident that most of us are just full of hot air and nothing more than gripe about the situation.

Lashawn,

What do you think about your fellow Conservatives (Republicans) who use illegal aliens as cheap labor for their companies? Do you agree with tougher punishment for the business owners who hire illegals? (And keep in mind, that it's not just the issue of citizenship...these companies and individuals often pay these workers lower than the minimum wage, pay in cash & are not reporting them for taxes, and are not paying into the State workers comp systems....all violations of various laws....).

Should these business owners be fined and locked up in your opinion?

And that Bennie Thompson comment at the top just makes me fume.... This is what I hate about Democrats... But i'll wait a while before I will judge them.... the new Congress doesn't start until next month. But most Democrats are not like Thompson....

Dems often get accused of being soft on security, etc...Conservatives tend to have a short memory.
(Personally I think both parties are lacking when it comes to security. Neither party wants to do enough...neither wants to do what is needed to bring more security to this country).

But with that said... remember..

#1. After 9/11 it was Democrats who fought for government control of passenger screening. Republicans fought like heck against the idea. Republicans wanted to leave that in the hands of the airlines and private contractors who pay rock bottom wages.

#2. Democrats fought for more screening of Domestic baggage at airports. Republicans were not in favor.

#3. Democrats (years ago) wanted more border patrol agents. Bush finally gave in just recently....

#4. The Port Deal. It was Democrats who stirred up the fuss that eventually sank the Republican plan to sell our Ports to foreign interests. (I think the mid term elections had something to do with that issue as well... I don't think people forgot about that one.... as forgetful as Americans are).

#5. The 9/11 Commission. It was Democrats who fought for that Commission... And Democrats support most of the Recommendations of that Commission. Why is this important. Well... it's important to investigate the event so that you can identify weaknesses, best practices, etc....so that you can formulate policy. You must have an assessment of what's going on before you can put a good strategy together. Republicans didn't even want to put the commission together.

#6. Energy Independence. This is the number one underlying & fundamental issue of which our anti-terror strategies and diplomatic efforts in the Middle East are based. If we can take care of this issue.... we will then be able to deal with the other issues from a far better position. From our current position of energy dependence, we are politically, economically, diplomatically and militarily shackled.

The Republicans are not really in favor of energy independence for the U.S. Why? Because Republicans (esp. the Bush team) are heavily allied with and connected to the oil industry... In fact, this administration is more connected to the oil industry than any other in recent history. They say publicly that they want to be free from dependence on foreign energy, etc... but behind the scenes, they are working in the interests of the oil companies.... (an industry in which many of the players in the Bush administration were and are a part of). Bush's idea of oil independence is attacking countries that have oil so that we can then be independent, lol. The concept of alternative energy, etc....just isn't on their agenda. They have basically done a few photo ops.... but they are really not in favor of doing anything about this problem.

Democrats however, are more visionary on this issue and see the bigger picture... They see the danger of being dependent on foreign energy.
This is why they are pushing for alternative fuels...and making a real effort at changing our foreign energy dependent culture.

This is one of the most important issues of our time. It's the Manhattan Project....the New Deal of the present day.... that's the kind of urgency that it should have...

Dear La Shawn:

I grew up working in the orchards and fields side by side with migrant workers. Back then there was no problem in regards to 'illegals'; they were hardworking, god fearing family people, and many of those who settled in the States became some of our best, most patriotic citizens.

Two issues changed this: 1) Greedy unethical employers; and 2) Drugs.

A generation after I last worked in the orchards I went out one summer with friends who wanted to earn some money during their summer vacation doing what they had done, and were very good at doing, years before. It was an eye opener. We'd stop at an orchard and half the time the owner wouldn't even talk to us. Why? Because we weren't hispanic. Most of the hiring was done through 'contractors' who supplied all the workers and who took care of all the field operations and payroll disbursements, leaving the owner with nothing to do but haul off the picked fruit and make one payment to the contractor. The 'employees' were 'illegals', generally individuals, unlike the old days of family based units, crammed to the gills in cheap motel rooms. The wages being paid were almost the exact same wages that had been paid fifteen years earlier, although the produce certainly wasn't being sold for the old prices. I finally got tired of the nonsense and went fishing for the rest of my vacation.

So, suek and other like minded individuals, La Shawn is absolutely correct regarding the lowering effect on wages and the reasons behind why many citizens who don't mind getting their hands dirty or working hard outdoors won't bother anymore.

I'm not going to bother getting into the drug related issues, mainly because you could write books on it. Lets just say that as far as I am concerned this is the real issue that should be looked at if you want to really understand the failure to control the border. There is too much money to be made, and I mean by everyone.

I was so upset when I heard the news of actress, Adrienne Shelly’s death at the hands of an illegal alien. I also posted this same message on her husband’s blog, The Ostroy Report. The subject of illegal immigration must be considered along with its negative and devastating consequences. Adrienne Shelly, along with thousands of others, was a victim because of it. I am a nine year veteran of the U.S. Border Patrol and I believe that it is my duty to speak the truth about illegal immigration, and to speak about many facts that the general public will never hear from television news and newspaper reports. From my personal experience with the Border Patrol, I believe that mass illegal immigration, not terrorism, is the most serious threat to the United States and its citizens. I spent two years on a special unit (BORCAP) in which we sought out criminal aliens in the local jails. Our seven-man unit was overwhelmed with the sheer numbers of criminal aliens that we encountered during our daily jail inspections. The most common crimes? Murder, Sexual Assault, Sexual Assault of a Minor, Aggravated Assault, Assault, Domestic Violence, Possession of a CS, DWI, and the lowly PI or Public Intoxication. We were only able to deport or prosecute approximately 150 criminal aliens each month, and that was only from our Border Patrol station alone. Additionally, the number of criminal alien gang members that we encountered was increasing at an alarming rate (i.e. Mara Salvatrucha, Mexican Mafia, La Hermandad de los Pistoleros, etc.). Illegal immigration is not just some victimless crime; there are thousands of victims out there and the human and fiscal costs associated with illegal immigration are growing each and every year. It's true that for every illegal alien we apprehend, another ten or more get by and make it to the interior of the United States. We were also forced to release hundreds of OTM (Other Than Mexican) aliens each month due to a lack of detention space. These OTM aliens were given Notices to Appear in which about one percent actually appeared for their Immigration Hearings. The rest were lost forever in the interior of the United States. So please, join together and demand that our politcians (Tom Tancredo is the one that truly understands the nature of the problem. His book, "In Mortal Danger," is a must read.) do something before it really is too late!

The following is a link to one (just one!) prison inmate listing in Cameron County, Texas (Carrizalez-Rucker Detention Center). The list includes the photos, the charge(s), and other information about the prison inmates. Inmates that we have interviewed will have the notice, “BORCAP Detainer,” “Hold for BORCAP,” or “Immigration Detainer,” included with their charges, which means that they are illegal aliens. We are only able to get to a small fraction of the inmate population because there are so many new inmates being brought in each day, which we often get to first. Hopefully, this will shed some more light on the illegal immigration situation.

I have been banging this drum for a long time now, too. I'm first generation American, mother born in Mexico who married an American and did the hard work required to become a citizen. If she could do it, so can everyone else. I left California partly because it has simply become an annex of Mexico, and LA is just another Mexico City, with a horrific homeless problem, but guess what? Texas is worse. Why? Because Texas is very pro-business and people here will look the other way in order to hire anyone they want and make money no matter who it hurts. They will openly demand you be bilingual in Spanish (not just any bilingualism will do) or you can't get the job. In America. In Texas. It's sickening. We are losing America. We are losing. And it's happening in my lifetime. I'm genuinely afraid that the America everyone wants a piece of is dying.
