LaShawn, I think I've read your blog from Day One!! Always love reading it, no matter which direction it takes!!! Hey, your idea of a shallow post is hugely substantive to me. Ha.

I'm still blogging, too (eight years!), and am about to add another blog to the mix. A more focused one, for Boomers who still find themselves with unmet goals and unfulfilled dreams. Not quite up yet, but it will be found at www.lateboomer.net.

And, I've got an agent for my first novel! That's exciting. Now, on to the second!!!

Best wishes on all your projects!

Keep the faith my friend. It's always a scary thing moving on to new stuff. I'm getting ready to retire after 21 years in the Air Force. For the last year the thought of what I'm going to do next kept me awake at nights. Had horrible visions of my family living in a car and eating out of trash cans :-(

I've made up my mind to (gulp) go into business for myself as a consultant. So I'm felling you on that one Ma'am.

Thank you for all your wonderful posts and insights.

I'm trying to do the best job where I am, and hope that one day someone successful will ask me to work with them because they've heard or seen me do good work. I have a feeling that will happen.

I like reading your writing, so I don't care about the political absence. I'd be more interested in your views about various things, not just music :D

<i>Are you trying to raise your game/career to a new level? Do share!"</i>

OK!

My golf game is about to explode (in a good way), and the golf swing is something I'd actually like to teach someday. I'm off to a tournament next week and I think I'll make a splash there. Wish me luck! :-)

For now, I'll continue my quest to be a Personal Trainer. I've been doing a routine that's gotten me into better physical shape(fat mass, muscle mass, conditioning) now at 41 than when I was in high school. I'm still plugging away at school, but I'm making huge progress towards my goal of dual Associates Degrees in Sports Management and Exercise Science. I made the decision 2 years ago to get out of the IT industry and get into the fitness industry, and so far I'm ahead of schedule.

Yea me! ;-)

Sounds like a fun ride for you. I was contacted by a publisher 2 weeks ago and asked to allow them to publish one of my pieces from my blog. I was quite excited as I have not been able to get anything published except a picture of my cat. Today I learned my piece is not to be published. Oh well, I'll keep working on it.

All the best to you.

Yes La Shawn, I have missed your political blogging. So much so that I had to actually venture out and start doing it on my website! That was different writing for me, and if anyone who's read it will tell you that they wish you hadn't stopped your political blogging for MY sake!

I'm one of your readers who does understand what you're doing. A writer's got to do what they gotta do! Just praying for your continued success!

Hey, by the way. You read where the youngest Hanson brother had his first baby? A baby boy? I know you are a Hanson fan...just thought I'd share that with you!

My husband raves about your blog. He enjoys it so much. I'm a new fan myself. I cannot wait to hear what God will do. It's always a little scary to embark on a new adventure, but it's very exciting too.

I've recently started blogging myself. I love to write, and I aspire to become a voice in the darkness.

I am leaving childcare management. I am open to just about anything, but I am looking into possibilities of an Internet based business.

I have been reading your blog since I discovered it in late 2005. I miss your political blogging, but I do enjoy your current blog emphasis on music, faith and culture.

I understand where you're coming from, as well. I'm quitting teaching to become a writer full time. I have a blog, and I'm working on a book. It's scary and exciting all at the same time. My only advice is to keep following your heart. If God's guiding it, you have nothing to worry about.

La Shawn,

I am glad that you are enjoying your new writing topics! Take advice from a (still) long-time reader: Write about what <i>you</i> find interesting and don't worry about pleasing others.

As for your question about raising my game/career to a new level, I have been inspired by my wife (who is working on a BA in Mathematics and will soon start upper-level mathematics courses) to return to school this summer and pursue a Master of Science in Mathematics. Presently I am a mathematics/physics teacher in a private school and do not make enough to support my family without working a second part-time job. Once I have another seven semester hours of graduate-level mathematics I can start teaching at a local community college.

Both my wife and I have a dream of returning to her home country in Africa and teaching there. Both of the degrees that we are working on will help realize that dream.

You know Churchill's statement on writing books:

Uh oh.

You know Churchill's statement on authoring books:
“Writing a book is an adventure. To begin with, it is a toy and an amusement; then it becomes a mistress, and then it becomes a master, and then a tyrant. The last phase is that just as you are about to be reconciled to your servitude, you kill the monster, and fling him out to the public.”

I'm sure you'll do well and I'm glad you'll be returning to political blogging (how can you resist given how crazy things have become?)
