Have you heard about this? In a 59-page report titled, A Climate of Change: African Americans, Global Warming, and a Just Climate Policy in the U.S. (PDF), the left-leaning Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies tries to make the case that global warming disproportionately impacts black people.
What they ought to say is that climate changes disproportionately impact poor people of all colors, but focusing on blacks, who are more likely to be poor than whites, will generate more attention, not to mention indignation.
I grabbed the bait, and now I’m stuck on the hook. Help!
I’d like to interrupt the child killing, race war, and preferential treatment blogging for a bit of music promo-ing (made-up word).
Yahoo!’s Reality Rocks music blog is asking readers to comment on which version of “No Air” they prefer: the original by “American Idol” (I never watch it) winner Jordin Sparks and Chris Brown or the cover by country singer Rissi Palmer.
Carry on…

Rather than tell women the truth about the unborn life they’re destroying, Planned Parenthood in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, temporarily shut down its abortion mill.
Planned Parenthood sought and was granted a preliminary injunction to stop execution of the 2005 informed consent law, but that injunction expired last week. Under the law, abortionists must tell a woman she’s “terminating the life of a whole separate, unique living human being,” and the woman must certify that she understands. And get this: somebody in the mill must tell the woman she’s at a higher risk of suicide and depression if she kills her baby. (Source)
If abortionists fail to comply, they face loss of medical license, civil liability, and prison. (Also see S. Dakota abortion clinic still not performing abortions, local pro-lifers say and U.S. appeals court upholds S. Dakota informed consent law)
Child killing is legal in the United States, to my everlasting shame, but perhaps hearing and understanding what they’re about to do will discourage women from snuffing out that tiny life. This is a small and likely fleeting victory for the unborn and the pro-life movement, but it’s encouraging.
By the way, there are several ways to avoid having “unwanted” children:
- Keep your legs closed; or
- Use birth control; or
- Carry the baby to term and adopt him out to a loving, stable family.
It’s not rocket surgery.
Update: Classy.

Today, Dick Heller, the plaintiff in the Supreme Court DC gun ban case, filed another lawsuit against DC, claiming its new regulations violate the Second Amendment.
He calls the regulations “highly unusual and unreasonable.” (Source)
Earlier this month, I told you about DC’s so-called compliance with the Supreme Court’s recent ruling. Five out of nine justices said that DC’s former handgun ban violated the Second Amendment. In response, DC drew up new and restrictive gun laws. Follow this: I may buy and register a handgun and keep it in my home, but I must allow the police department to perform ballistics tests on it, I must take and pass a written exam, and I must keep my handgun unloaded and disassembled in my home. If I or anyone in my home feels threatened, I may assemble and load my gun and shoot the person. Such sweethearts.
Heller’s lawyer illustrated the absurdity of the new regulations, saying that a thug would have to make an appointment to rob a resident in order for that resident to use his/her handgun under DC’s new regulations.
Mayor Adrian Fenty and his Second Amendment-hating liberal cabal are determined to keep guns in the hands of criminals and out of the hands of law-abiding residents.

So much for a black-brown coalition.
According to the 36-page 2007 Hate Crimes Report (PDF), thugs committed 763 “hate crimes” in 2007 in Los Angeles County, 28 percent higher than last year.
The majority of these crimes was motivated by bias against race/ethnicity and national origin. In “antiblack” crimes, 71 percent of suspects were hispanic; in anti-hispanic crimes, 56 percent of suspects were black. Blacks and hispanics are natural enemies (gang-bangers only?), it seems.

I’ll bet it was like pulling a tooth, but John McCain finally answered a question about where he stands on the Arizona Civil Rights Initiative, a measure that seeks to ban preferential treatment by the government based on race, sex, etc., in his home state.
Asked point-blank whether he supported the ballot initiative, McCain said, “Yes, I do…I’ve always opposed quotas.” (Source)
(Michelle Malkin is skeptical of McCain’s endorsement.)
Activist Ward Connerly is on a mission to ban preferences from hiring, contracting, and admissions in state governments. His efforts have proved fruitful in three states so far. Californians approved a ban on preferences with 54 percent of the vote in 1996. Voters in Washington state approved a similar measure by 58.3 percent in 1998, and Michigan voters approved the ban by 58 percent in 2006.
As expected, Barack Obama believes governments should treat people differently based on skin color. In response to McCain’s comments, BHO said:

2:58 a.m. PT: It’s a tragedy of epic proportions.
I’m spending the night in an airport. In Vegas, of all places. First time. Ever. It’s weird. Flight was canceled, stood in line for an hour to be re-routed. No straight flights, and nothing before 6 a.m. Madness. But I didn’t lose my religion! Thanks, God.
There’s free wireless, though, so I’ve been working and surfing and now I’m blogging. Big fun.
An Essence magazine writer or researcher or whoever interviewed me a couple months ago for a story about black Republicans and conservatives. Although it was nice to see my words quoted accurately, the person I spoke to or the person who wrote or edited the article or whoever got some facts wrong. Here’s my quote from “Crossing Over,” which appears in the August 2008 issue and is not online, unfortunately:
