The Survival of Claire Culwell

by La Shawn on 03.29.10

in Child Killing

Claire CulwellIncredible story of survival. Claire Culwell‘s mother became pregnant at 13. She decided to kill the baby.

Weeks later, the girl realized she was still pregnant and tried to get a “partial birth” abortion. The clinic told her she’d been carrying twins, and the abortionist had killed only one. The girl wanted to kill the second baby, but they said it was too late.

The surviving baby was born premature. She was on life support. Because of the procedure that killed her twin, Claire Culwell was born with a dislocated hip and turned-in feet.

Claire is now 21, a nursing student, and part of the pro-life movement.

Update: Melissa Ohden, abortion attempt survivor.

Last Week At Michelle’s

in General

unborn babyThe government school system has come a long way since teaching kids all about reading, writing, ‘rithmetic-ing, and the practical art of being a good citizen. These days, they facilitate fornication and the death of unborn children. No wonder taxes are so high.

From KOMONews.com:

A pro-life mother is peeved, to say the least, that her formerly pregnant daughter killed her unborn baby without parental consent. Get this: the school’s “health” clinic set up the appointment, and the teen submitted to the procedure during school hours.

When she signed a consent form, [the teen's mother] Jill figured it meant her 15 year old could go to the Ballard Teen Health Center located inside the high school for an earache, a sports physical, even birth control, but not for help terminating a pregnancy.

“She took a pregnancy test at school at the teen health center,” she said. “Nowhere in this paperwork does it mention abortion or facilitating abortion.”

Jill says her daughter, a pro-life advocate, was given a pass, put in a taxi and sent off to have an abortion during school hours all without her family knowing.

“We had no idea this was being facilitated on campus,” said Jill. “They just told her that if she concealed it from her family, that it would be free of charge and no financial responsibility.”

The school district says it doesn’t run the clinic, although the clinic’s on the government school campus. Ah, that changes things.

It’s not against the law in Washington state for a teenager to kill her baby without parental consent. It was all done legal and proper-like, outraged parents notwithstanding.

Oh, there’s the bell. Late for class!

…I’m filling in for Michelle Malkin (scroll down the sidebar for my posts – Star Parker running for Congress, racial preferences in the health care bill, etc.) this week while she’s on hers. I want to go to the UK, but I’ll probably have to settle for Knott’s Berry Farm. Not bad. I like roller coasters. :?

Writing for myself, for publications like the Christian Research Journal, for clients, for others – I used to talk, talk, talk about writing for fun and profit, now I’m doing it. For the last eight years, give or take. I like. Have a good week, everybody.

It’s been 13 years since I had a beer or a Martini or Vodka and tonic or a glass of wine or… I started drinking shortly before turning 18, and I drank almost every day for over a decade. The only time I wasn’t drinking or thinking about drinking was when I was asleep. During [...]

Bright Life, Big City

March 16, 2010

I completely missed this. Starting this week, a group called Abortion Changes You begins an advertising campaign in New York City billed as non-religious and non-political that deals with the grief some women feel after killing their unborn babies. Abortion Changes You founder Michaelene Fredenburg said it “makes her sad” that pro-abortion groups have called [...]

‘Jesus Christ’ Uttered on ABC

March 16, 2010

What’s the best way to keep a cute child star from growing up to be a drug-addled adult? A sense of purpose beyond entertaining people comes to mind. A strong and stable family that keeps him morally centered definitely helps. But ultimately, the answer is the One whose name is above all others: Jesus Christ. [...]
